View Full Version : Ron Paul sounded great on Bill Moyers
Arguing for civil liberties, against the culture of fear, against the secret prisons and torture and the Bush's anti-constitutionalism.
Against the corporations and media control and consolidation, against the religious nutjobs, for the first amendment.
He really sounded great.
Dennis Kucinich on the same Bill Moyers program, accuses the Insurance industry of being the power behind the scenes in Iowa.
Talking about the corporate control of the media.
Kucinich is clearly an intelligent guy.
A great program in general - look for it, DVR it, watch it, because it's worth seeing.

Insurance companies are a huge force in corrupt American politics.
I notice Ron Paul didn't accept any problem with privatization of the airwaves.
He seemed to think FOX's decisions were its own, which i would concur with, but i don't want FOX to own all or even more than one media outlet in a single market.
Diversity of opinion matters. Competition means more resources are spent gathering local news.
A multinational corporation will give you the minimum it has to,
with a monopoly it can give you darn near nothing.
24/7 365 of pure infomercials & absolutely nothing else.
That is where i would differ from Paul.
Some things are inherently collectively owned.
The planet's air. To a good degree ground water. The climate. The biosphere. Our genetic & cultural heritage as well as to some degree the planet's broad genetic heritage of all the species.
And the Public Air waves. They must to some small degree at least 'serve the public good'. Not sure Paul would agree.
These are shared possessions, & so that a very few don't defile these shared possessions there must be rules.
