Just got this email from Democracy for America:

You did it! Minutes ago, Senator Reid pulled the FISA bill from the Senate floor.

Since Friday at noon, you made 2,443 reported calls to Senator Reid demanding he stop this bill. All weekend internet blogs, like Firedoglake and DailyKos, kept it in the news cycle. From the ACLU to the Courage Campaign, progressives took action. And today, Senator Dodd threatened to filibuster. Together, we won.

When Progressives stand up, Beltway Democrats back down.

Today is a victory. But the battle for the heart and soul of the Democratic Party continues. Contribute $15 right now to keep up the fight.

They have to ask the worlds greatest leader george w bush if they can do that. I am going to pray to Jesus Christ and he will talk to the worlds greatest leader and make sure and if it is not in old testaments then the worlds greatest leader does not have to listen.

well, maybe,

absolutely everything is not going completely & immediately to hell?

not holding my breath, but i have a little itty bitty, teensie weensie bit of hope.

Maybe some sufficient number of Americans are taking the reigns of this once proud nation back again.

It's a never ending task, but there is no better option.

Maybe [some] Americans are worth a damn.
we don't seem to have been over the near recent term.

<fingers crossed>

That's some crazy shit.

First they say they're listening to all our communications to prevent another 9/11 but then we find out that they were doing it when 9/11 happened.

These are the same people that brought us Watergate. How much do you really want to remove those checks and balances from the people that wanted to end democracy before?

Warning, as far as i gather this is just being put off until the new year.

At this point it is a pretty marginal success.

Better than a forgone failure, but no certain success.

Congratulations democrats!

Now groups like al qaida can more easily discuss their plots to kill us, knowing there's less of a chance that the prying ears of some nasty government agent is listening on the other end. Bin laden needs to thank his lucky stars he's got allies as loyal as Harry Reid and his democratic counterparts, to fight for not only his his rights, but the rights of Muslim terrorists the world over.

There isn't a terrorist alive that not celebrating this victory tonight...

Way to go DEMOCRATS!

Oh, and don't forget... Praise ala.

Whats the matter Radioguy cant get free porn now from your favorite Righty sites.

Protecting the rights and privacy of Americans is not supporting terrorism it keeps this nation free.

If that means you dont get to live by your guilty until proven innocent mindset then so be it.

I think the New Hampshire State motto says it all. "Live Free or Die"

A little terrorism for not living in a police state is probably worth it.

Take your specters of fear & stick them where the sun don't shine RG.

You feed off terrorism. Maybe you are worse than terrorism.

Actually, I don't think this has any effect at all on collecting such intell.

As I understand it, there's enormous surveillance going on right now.

So if there are any al qaeda cells here, which seems ever more doubtful, wether or not this bill was passed has no impact now. And in the future it simply requires us to take one tiny extra step, that is always granted, of asking for a warrent to surveil a suspect, giving a reason why, to the secret FISA court.

It makes illegal the clearly unconstitutional practice of recording EVERYONES phone calls, a practice that is so easily abused for political purposes.

Non citizens were always legal candidates for surveillance, and will always remain so. As will all comminications that cross the border, including communications with citizens. If it crosses the border, it can be surveiled, it's always been that way, and will always be that way.

Nor will a revised FISA, that removes telco immunity for breaking the law, in any way reduce the currently existing surveillance powers.

So once again Radioguy, you prove yourself a corporatist puppet, a traitor to america, a maker of ridiculous straw men arguments, and a man from who's mouth pour lies and shit.

Do you even understand what's going on here? They can still track the electronic communications of anyone. What they can't do so easily is what Richard Nixon wanted to do and that's spy on his own people and the other party.

There's not a true American that supports our Constitution and loves democracy that isn't happy about this.

Of course it doesn't fit well in Sean Hannity's America but he's not about freedom is he?

The initial claim is always law & order.

Shortly if not immediately it always decays into fodder for political hit jobs.

Intimidation, threats, & hatcheting people against crude always transient popular opinion.

My god, they can't even be bothered to ask for a fucking warrant,
even 72 hours AFTER they have started spying on you.
These people are just lazy & traitors to intelligent thinking as much as they are traitors to America & its values.

I guess those terrorists must have the ability to move at the speed of light which is why they have such a hard time keeping up with them.
AND our elected officials couldn't even calculate the best exit from a paper bag,

probably too busy scheming with lobbyist criminals.
