Or at least the buildup of fear - this Sunday at football stadiums :)

A mysterious dirty bomb explosion somewhere in the US is a doable black ops job.

You could do it in such a way that it would be very hard to trace to a source. Not many people required to do it. And very scary.

Like the anthrax thing.

OBL will either campaign for Dubya just like he did in 2004 or he knows that Bob and Todd have things under control.

For it to be effective to flip the vote, they'd have to have a credible middle eastern "cell" to blame it on, that could be found quickly, or that all died in the attack, leaving just enough evidence to find their trail and an un-dis-provable background.

If it just happened without a clear enemy to blame, there's enough suspicion in the mood of the country to react to a completely mysterious explosion by voting democrat.

I don't really believe it could be done, especially not this late.

But it would make a great plot for a book.

Actually if I remember correctly there was a movie that went along the same lines except it was just one stadium - Baltimore??? and the president was there watching the game when the terrorists set off a real nuke

I noticed that the news is now saying that they are interviewing someone about the post - the board it was on was hosted in Mass and the WM lives in Mass according to his whois - but the poster was in Mn I believe?

Meh. Already outed as a hoax, apparently:

Yeah, actually, the information that it wasn't credible was part of the initial news coverage. I don't think any of us here thought it was a real threat.

I think it's funny that it's apparently part of that terror scenario movie plot contest that was news on the blogs about two months back.

I was thinking about it more in this vein - that it would make for an acheivable and doable conspiracy type attack. A very small government cell could do it and get away with it.

If they hadn't been able to so easily identify and interview the poster of the attack description, it might have been the set-up stage of a attempt to pull off a fake terror attack to influence the election. As it is it's obviously just a mistake - some kid who's fantasizing got turned into national news, like the 14 year old girl harrassed by secret service for her myspace picture.

I remember that movie, Linkster, Sum of All Fears, kind of a crappy movie all things considered. In it the israelis lose a bomb secretly given to them by the US, bomb is found and sold to terrorists, brought in to the country in a ship, and set off in a stadium. lame movie, except for one thing - unlike most such movies, in it the bomb goes off.

Any actual terrorist action will show that the administration is NOT protecting us. I still think that Bob and Todd have things under control so there's not much need for an October surprise.

I know that help onto OBL vote for Bush speech last year until 2 or 3 days before the election but they have a lot of ground to cover in a real election. They're going to need every church leader that's amassing wealth from his congregation to tell people to vote for republicans or be damned forever and that takes time.

well since the original story was so fake it was destined to go down quickly - between the fact there isnt a stadium in New York and the games were at different times(kinda going against the coordinated attacks part) it was obviously someone posting theories - somewhat similar to little theories that get posted here about Iranian ships etc :)
