What will each candidate do about the estimated 50 trillion dollars in unfunded mandates? True enough they talk about Social Security & Medicare but none are addressing the real issue.

Going forward our gubment is comitted to funding 50 trillion dollars through the death of the Boomers. Inflation is one way to do it. Do I hear any other idears?

Unfortunately the American people don't even want to pay for the war they support much less the health care of our parents. I think a lot could be done by simply putting an effort on innovative cost controls.

The problem with that is it cuts into corporate profits and requires an educated work force which is something that no longer exists in the USA.

I tried to warn people in 2000 and wanted to smack them all in 2004 but destroying he dollar and causing inflation is really not a good long term economic plan. It puts American corporations at a major disadvantage when trying to compete over seas. Sure we can sell cheaply made goods over seas but buying equipment and raw materials is more expensive.

Unfortunately new tech usually requires investments in new equipment.

I would say push for new technologies and offer incentives for cost saving ideas. The USA was once a great innovator and we can do that again.

The follies of big government. The only way to save this country is to return to a constitutional limited federal government. Of course we will not. All our solutions to our biog government problems, will be more big government. The process will continue until we have a totalitarian government.

The people turned of their responsibility to crooked corrupt politcians, now they must pay the price. America as we know it will soon be gone and replace with a dictatorship where every facet of our lives is dictated by government.

Democracies do seem to be steered around by fantastic promises.

People inherently wish that happy outcomes happen without working to make them occur.

That people are 'special', 'blessed', "god's own" so they 'deserve' all this manna from heaven.

They also want to believe that any happy outcomes will last eternity.

I suppose intelligent democracy is when the voters have measured expectations of government & keep the eagle's own eye on what happens in government.

The USA is a L-O-N-G way from an intelligent, responsible democracy.

Mostly people wake up only AFTER the shit hits the fan.
