AP. – Nov 12. Butterball turkey plant under investigation for animal abuse.

There have been complaints of animal abuse by former employees that worked at butterball which has sparked a investigation into the company’s treatment of animals.

One worker told an investigator: "If you jump on their stomachs right, they'll pop ... or their insides will come out of their [rectums]," and other Butterball workers frequently bragged about kicking and tormenting birds.

One Butterball employee stomped on a bird's head until her skull exploded, another swung a turkey against a metal handrail so hard that her spine popped out, and another was seen inserting his finger into a turkey's cloaca (vagina).

It was also noted that what gives meat its taste is feces. The turkeys after they are slaughtered sit in a swimming pool like vat of their own feces, its done with all meat.

Butterball had no comment on this investigation.

Sounds like a conservatives wet dream. Just think, had those pinko liberals not pushed for government regulatory agencies like USDA to inspect slaughter plants and if those whiney PETA folks would quit their crying about animal rights, this would be common practice.

Give it a rest bairdi, USDA meat is still horrible meat to actually eat. The standards are really low, like they let cancerous animals pass USDA inspection...

Have to disagree with you there Harry. Having been in the foodservice business for 22 years and having dealt with USDA Meat and Poultry inspectors I can only say that without them I would never want to eat in a restaurant or buy meat from the grocers.

I wouldn't buy USDA meat. I've seenthe videos of what happens to that meat, and the chemicals the cows are subjected too.

Since I have a 3 year old daughter we're very careful about beef. USDA beef for her ain't good enough. It's filled with antibiotics, hormones and many unknown nasties. Feeding it to our children is wrong.

On the other hand, as far as I know, pork and chicken are quite a bit safer then beef because of the USDA standards. Still not really good but better then killing your children.

BTW - Why believe a few videos? Haven't your learned any thing from watching Fox News?

A New COK Investigation Uncovers Cruelty at a North Carolina Turkey Hatchery that Supplies Butterball

An undercover video filmed by a COK investigator while employed at a North Carolina turkey hatchery reveals shockingly abusive conditions for newly-hatched chicks. The investigator worked at the hatchery for nearly three weeks during June and July 2006, when it was hatching turkeys to be raised for this year’s Thanksgiving dinner tables. The video includes scenes of live chicks being:

suffocated in plastic bags,
tossed around like inanimate objects,
mangled on machinery, and
routinely dumped in the same disposal bin as cracked egg shells.

Learn more about this investigation and watch the video. (http://www.cok.net/camp/inv/turkeys06/)

Doubtful... if not out-right fabrications. Stop & think... the workers are risking their jobs. NO manager/production supervisor would permit this behavior.

Absolutely false

Ever notice how Kosher meat does not have a taste to it and regular meat does. Its because regular meat sits in its own waste after it is killed, and the taste you are tasting is the waste.
