No one seems to care about the oath any more. All the pansies keep saying that they should protect us and forget about our freedoms.

These guys will be out in a year. We can hope that America will want the next administration to support the Constitution instead of act like a bunch of scared little pansies and say "Protect us at all costs"

Sorry pal, but protecting us is the #1 priority of our government. If you gave a shit about America, you wouldn't attempt to stop the president from doing his job.

Ponder the following Moby:

Our government takes action to protect America's interests and protect it's people, while liberals think that anti-American organizations like the UN should make those decisions for us. Even Clinton and Carter took military action without UN approval. Conservatives agree with America on this issue, while liberals don't.

Many liberals condemn America for taking military action, calling us the real terrorists. Yet, the real terrorists in the world like Hamas and Hezbolla, who target and kill innocent people every day, are not condemned by the liberal left and often receive their support. Conservatives on the other hand, do not condemn our military, but do condemn terrorist organizations of the world, as well as the acts of terror they commit.

Conservatives condemn the terrorist insurgence in Iraq for the needless murder of 10's of thousands of innocent Iraqi's, while the liberal left only condemns American troops and ignores the barbaric, premeditated murder of innocent Iraqis.

Israel has been an American Alie in every presidential administration since their inception, while the PLO, Hamas and Hezbolla have been considered terrorists, and anything but an Alie. Conservatives see things the same way as America, while many liberals see things the exact opposite.

America has for more than 30 years, has seen Cuba and Iran along with their friends and allies, as either our enemy, or at least not American friendly governments. Conservatives also see things this way, while many liberals see things the opposite.

Conservatives hold men like Ronald Reagan in high regard, while liberals praise men like Che Guevara, who was responsible for murdering thousands of innocent people and helped communist dictator Fidel Castro take over and destroy Cuba.

Conservatives march in support of the United States and our military. They carry signs that praise America and condemn our enemies. Liberals march in opposition to the United States. They carry signs calling our president Hitler and a war criminal, calling our military troops terrorists and murders, and in praise of men like Che, Castro and Hugo Chavez.

The president has the constitutional right when we are at war, to take necessary steps to protect the United States, such as the NSA wire tapping program and the over seas banking probe. Conservatives support the president taking these actions to protect this country, while liberals condemn such actions.

There is however, something that both conservatives and liberals have in common. They both believe that the attacks of 9/11 were a tragedy that should have never happened, and both condemn those responsible... The only thing is, conservatives point the finger at al qaida and Islamic extremists, while many liberals point their fingers at Bush and the United States government.

If this thread is for American's only, wtf is Jesse even doing here?

Congressional Oath
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

Presidential Oath
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.

The best way to keep someone safe is by putting them in protective custody and controlling every aspect of their lives. Basically taking away all of their freedoms.

If you want to be a pansy and live in fear then so be it but at least get your facts straight. The President and all members of congress take an oath to uphold THE CONSTITUTION. That is their #1 priority. OBL may have scared you into wanting the to do differently but that was his plan wasn't it?

It could be but I think it's just an emotional response. I posted a few weeks ago that the far right wingers seemed to just have nothing but emotional responses and they lost the ability for rational thought. Since then he's told me to fuck off numerous times and even admitted to being so pissy that he wouldn't respond to subjects if people hurt his feelings. Of course he continues to insult others.

OBL scared people and now the administration along with Rush and Rupert have continued to keep people scared and when people are afraid they will do anything. Take away our freedoms. Take $14,000,000,000 in cash from us. It's OK. Destroy the American economy. It's OK. Allow China to own us and dictate policy. It's OK. Just don't let the quiet bearded man in a cave hurt me.

They swore to protect the Constitution. It's important because the Rule of Law must be defended and Cheney should not be allowed to escape without prosecution. Unitary Executive my ass. This can't stand.

What's obscene is the war that this guy started in Iraq with lies.

This is all foolish dirty politics. The Republicans changed their minds and voted in favor of the impeachment debate, Because they knew the Democrats don't really have the balls, or the evidence. They just want to sound tough.

Debate on Cheney Impeachment Averted
Republicans Try to Force Debate on Rep. Kucinich's Effort to Impeach Vice President Cheney
http://www.abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=3828274

"House Democrats on Tuesday narrowly managed to avert a bruising debate on a proposal to impeach Dick Cheney after Republicans, in a surprise maneuver, voted in favor of taking up the measure.

Republicans, changing course midway through a vote, tried to force Democrats into a debate on the resolution sponsored by longshot presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich.

The anti-war Ohio Democrat, in his resolution, accused Cheney of purposely leading the country into war against Iraq and manipulating intelligence about Iraq's ties with al-Qaida.

The GOP tactics reversed what had been expected to be an overwhelming vote to table, or kill, the resolution.

Midway through the vote, with instructions from the GOP leadership, Republicans one by one changed their votes from yes to kill the resolution to no, trying to force the chamber into a debate and an up-or-down vote on the proposal.

At one point there were 290 votes to table. After the turnaround, the final vote was 251-162 against tabling, with 165 Republicans voting against it.

"We're going to help them out, to explain themselves," said Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Texas. "We're going to give them their day in court."

Democrats countered by offering a motion to refer the proposal to the House Judiciary Committee for further study, effectively preventing a debate on the House floor. That motion passed by a largely party-line vote of 218-194.

The White House, in a statement, said Democrats were shirking responsibilities on issues such as childrens' health insurance "and yet they find time to waste an afternoon on an impeachment vote against the vice president. ... This is why Americans shake their head in wonder about the priorities of this Congress."

Kucinich has long pushed for a vote to impeach Cheney, but has failed to win the backing of the Democratic leadership. After Kucinich introduced the resolution, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., immediately moved to table it."

It's just a feel-good thing.

The right wingers show their true colors this would only take about 4 weeks maximum to investigate cheney. It also proves these phony ass right wingers here aren’t true conservatives the United States Constitution is the corner stone of this country. So any person denying this impeachment hearing is not a real American. I think this thread expressed Americans only not a bunch of mindless cowards..

Bush - Constitution 'Just A Goddamned Piece Of Paper'
By: Doug Thompson

Last month, Republican Congressional leaders filed into the Oval Office to meet with President George W. Bush and talk about renewing the controversial USA Patriot Act.

Several provisions of the act, passed in the shell shocked period immediately following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, caused enough anger that liberal groups like the American Civil Liberties Union had joined forces with prominent conservatives like Phyllis Schlafly and Bob Barr to oppose renewal.

GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.

"I don't give a goddamn," Bush retorted. "I'm the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way."

"Mr. President," one aide in the meeting said. "There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution."

"Stop throwing the Constitution in my face," Bush screamed back. "It's just a goddamned piece of paper!"

I've talked to three people present for the meeting that day and they all confirm that the President of the United States called the Constitution "a goddamned piece of paper."

So leaving an unelected Bush & Cheney in the Whitehouse doesn't set a bad precedent?

or is it just 'not bad enough'?
