Taxes are ridiculously high. If you ever sat down and figured out what we play in taxes, embedded, income, state, sales, ss, Medicare, death, estate, etc. it's sickening.

Of course these big government programs Americans want aren't going to pay for themselves. Nor will the stuipid wars.

Too much of everything is taxed too high! Property, income, sales etc.
We are taxed over and over again on anything we manage to have.
Talk about white collar crime!

A society needs to come to some kind of consensus as to what it expects from government & what it doesn't.

Then you figure out how much that should reasonably cost & tax appropriately.

Citizens need [have a self preserving duty to themselves & families] to scrutinize where tax & deficit [taxing the unborn] moneys are being spent. Right now just about everything is done to cover this up.
Proposals have been made to put everything in a publicly available online database. But so far this hasn't happened.

Also there should be a strict time window [one week?] between when a bill has been completely, unalterably, drafted and when it gets voted on, so everyone, including congresspersons & staff can actually read wtf they are voting on. Exceptions for emergencies. IMO the UN-patriot act wasn't a necessary emergency. No secret midnight votes, earmarks or other crap.

Confusion is the ally of criminals & cheats. Don't be confused & demand more clarity. But also don't pretend that things you need such as highways, roads & infrastructure don't cost to build & maintain either.
