Who do ya think?

Al qaeda, trying to kill a moderate, algerian tactics?

Or the military, trying to kill a moderate, school of the americas tactics?

My vote is the military.

Of course it was Al-Queada and I'm thankful it didn't happen here Bill , arent' you ?

6 YEARS AND STILL NO TERRORIST ATTACKS

It would be fascinating if it happened here. One of the most interesting attacks in history.

Why would al qaeda want to kill bhutto?

It's up to 124 dead and 320 injured.

It was one suicide bomber in a van and one on foot.

Wow. Classic. Iraqi tactics exported perfectly. I wonder why so few attackers?

They lucked out - all bhutto's followers so closely packed.

The thing is, if it was done by the military, it will be investigated by the same people that did it, the whats-their-name, the pak equivalent of the fbi or kgb.

But, I would just love to know where the explosives came from.

If it's al qaeda, attacking moderates, we'll probably see another attack in a few days. maybe saudi arabia, or lebanon, possibly in iran.

If it's paki military, more attacks against bhutto followers, combined with assasinations.

Smurf-Herder

I'm sure it's Al-Qaeda.

http://ca.today.reuters.com/news/NewsArticle.aspx?type=topNews&storyID=2007-10-18T200630Z_01_ISL245129_RTRIDST_0_NEWS-PAKISTAN-COL.XML

"Militants linked to al Qaeda, angered by Bhutto's support for the United States war on terrorism, had threatened to assassinate her."

Osama and Zawahiri declared jihad on Pakistan a few weeks ago. It would be a big hit against Musharraf bringing the country together if Bhutto were assassinated.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/asiapcf/09/20/bin.laden.message/

I think they're going to concentrate on Bhutto. They want Pakistan in chaos.

Bill

I was under the impression that the military and Musharraf hated Bhutto with an all abiding passion? That's why she was exiled, is that not so?

But attacking moderates and collaborators is classic doctrine. Asymmetrical fighters want despots, not moderates, in charge.

Oddly enough, so do covert government death squad school of the americas fighters.

Both benefit from polarization.

Bill
10-18-2007, 11:07 PM
Of course, it's to winger benefit if it's al qaeda, and makes the us look bad if it's pak mil, so I have no doubt that it will be decided that it's al qaeda.

I wonder if al qaeda will claim it?

"Al Qaeda in Pakistan" - it has a ring to it.

Bill

Apparently I'm mistaken.

I wonder what causes a "self-imposed exile"? Fear of getting killed?

"Ms. Bhutto arrived in Karachi today, ending eight years of her self-imposed exile. She is believed to be the sweet-heart of the Western Governments and claims to be the most popular leader in Pakistan today. "

---

Several terrorist organizations had threatened such an attack in case of Benazir's return on which she seeked permission from the Government to import two bullet-proof vehicles which was easily granted.

The unfortunate incident was not avoided despite of the fact that Ms.Bhutto was given security cover of a level that only the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan enjoy.

So basically you believe that we should cave into every terrorist demand in order to protect ourselves?

What about soldiers and Americans in other countries?

Doesn't this show that Al Queda is getting stronger? Isn't that one of the main concerns about not rebuilding Iraq and keeping the war going?

Well, the thing is, it was only two bombs, it didn't require a lot of logistics, so it might have just been a lucky hit.

Now, if they'd done a really impressive complex attack, or if they successfully do a series of further attacks, that would indicate a significant increase in organization.

There's a lot we don't know about this attack yet.

Seriously Bill?

Why would a terrorist attack on this country be fascinating to you ?, and why do you think its "nice" that 30 people are dead in Pakistan

I'm a war buff. I've been studying war since I was a kid.

Strategy and tactics fascinate me.

So, when I see a well executed attack, I enjoy it, as an example of the military art.

Unlike you, I understand that a single attack like that can't really hurt an industrial economy. Unlike you, a few nutjob fanatics don't scare me.

And unlike you, I've read about what the islamists want. Right now, they are as happy as pigs in shit, because we have done exactly what they wanted us to do.

Strategically, they won't attack again as long as we keep co-operating.

The only risk is from homegrowns. And homegrowns are notoriously incompetent.

But if they did launch a successful attack, yes, I would be totally fascinated.

The towers attack was a joke, tactically. A lucky hit. Anybody can get suckerpunched, that's one of the absolute rules of fighting.

LOL...are you still parading this feeble and pathetic slogan?

You have already forgotten about the nukes brought into the US last year? Surely you haven't forgotten? Therefore, if they don't go off until after Bush leaves office, the nukes still penetrated the American border on Bush's watch. I'm sure the nukes won't explode until after a democrat is elected so they can blame the left wing for being "soft on terror". What a joke!

She's everybody's hope for stability. Even for Musharraf.

Note:

Pakistani nukes are not under the same command and control structure as ours.

Thanks! From a scairdey cat like you, that's a sweet thing to say.

You see, unlike you, I'm not terrorized.

These pathetic nutjobs don't frighten me.

Patriots shouldn't be afraid of nutjobs who can't actually harm their country.

Dang, that looks sweet, I want me one of those.

Doesn't seem like it would provide enough protection from above, tho.

I've always wanted a bomb shelter, ever since I was a kid.

There's lots of overhead protection. Frankie has the roof insulated with rubber from all the used condoms he has collected over the years.
