Bush warns of World War III if Iran goes nuclear

US President George W. Bush said Wednesday that he had warned world leaders they must prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons "if you're interested in avoiding World War III."

"We've got a leader in Iran who has announced that he wants to destroy Israel," Bush said at a White House press conference after Russia cautioned against military action against Tehran's supect atomic program.

"So I've told people that, if you're interested in avoiding World War III, it seems like you ought to be interested in preventing them from having the knowledge necessary to make a nuclear weapon," said Bush.

Why would that start WW III?

The fight would be between Israel and Iran.

No, it wouldn't. Everybody has alliances. And Iran will attack Israel's allies, as well. And Iran has Hezbollah, Syria, Sudan and North Korea for allies.

Any more interesting than the fact that the assasination of Archduke Ferdinand was the trigger to WWI, or that Hitler's invasion of Poland was the trigger to WWII?

Both wars were building up for years.

Remember, everyone blames Clinton for not getting OBL when Sudan had him. Yeah, there's the small matter of the Sudanese would only offer him to King Fahd of Saudi Arabia, a major business partner of Cheney and Dubya but the King wouldn't take him.

Putin has drawn a line in the sand at Iran. given Iran's economic links with China I kinda sorta agree with Bush that if we attack Iran, WWIII will result. Maybe the Europeans, other than Russia, stay out of it. I really don't see many of our allies coming to our aid if we provoke war with Iran and China & Russia jump on the side of the Iranians.
