I just assumed that if someone was going to post something they thought was racist that they had listened to it and made the judgement for themselves - I totally agree with what Edwards said - and having seen it first hand it is exactly what is the cause of one of the US's major internal problems

the idea that we are going to just keep incarcerating and incarcerating, soon we're not going to have a young African-American male population in America. They're all going to be in prison or dead.

Actually, I posted this to make a point. Edwards has already been called to task for his insinuations, and he stated that he mis-spoke and clarified what he meant.

I don't believe he was trying to make a racist statement, nor do I believe he is racist. The reason I feel this way, is because I put right and wrong ahead of my political agenda. I look at the facts without letting my politics get in the way.

On the surface, yes they were. But when you take the whole answer he gave to that girl, and consider the point he was trying to make, the answer is "no", I don't think that was said in a racist manner. I don't think he meant to imply that all black men were criminals that would end up either in jail or being murdered on the streets, like it came out.

Edwards' goal was to hit the listeners emotionally, without thought to the consequences of his specific words. Although, being careful on how to express himself should be taken into account when pandering.

What he said was still insensitive racially. Implying indirectly that all afro-american men are incapable of overcoming their circumstances in life.

If a Republican had said the same thing, you know the Left would have been all over him for his remarks.
