... first time in fifteen years, straight democrat ticket. I don't know how to distinguish the tea baggers from the normal GOP, so I just voted against all of them.
Have you voted yet?

Good for you, TR. Good luck. (You know I mean that)
I will soon. I just spent 3 hours researching the NC Judge races. There are no party affiliations on the ballot for them. I like to know bios, experience, and affiliation.

We had very few peripheral races here this year - I think there were only 6 (maybe 7) offices contested.
Full admission: I never know about the judges' backgrounds, so I don't vote for any of them LOL

Fla. has early voting, did mine almost 2 weeks ago.
I didn't vote for the judges either no clue.
didn't even get a chance to look at local endorsements -the Orlando Sentinel still doesn't get the idea,
that by the time they publish this stuff, millions of Floridians have already voted.
Split the ticket,( D.) for Congress (Grayson), Sink (D.) for governor, Marco Rubio (R.) for Senate

I voted a couple of weeks ago by mail; can't stand up long enough to wait in line. We always have a decent turnout on election day, we are a red state and so goes the elections, thank God.
Voted republican, proudly, with the exception of state treasurer. He's a college alum and a real good guy - deserves to be re-elected. Kept our state's behind out of the budget crisis fire by using good fiscal common sense and spending conservatively, while making necessary cuts to balance the budget.

Sounds like y'all had a more full ballot to vote than I did. The two big races here for me are governor (the guy I voted for will almost surely lose) and the U.S. House. My House rep will be reelected and I'm alright with that.
We also had a proposition to amend our state constitution to state that Tennesseans have a right to hunt and fish in our state. I voted against that, in principle, because I see no need for the law. I'm not opposed to hunting and fishing, but I am opposed to knee jerk legislation and I think that's what this is.
I'll add that the polling place was the slowest I've seen it in the six years I've voted at that location. That sucks.

I didn't vote. This is the first time in my adult life I have abstained (hey, no sex jokes!).
I've never felt such overwhelming apathy toward the state and politics. I can't bring myself to vote for a politician. Any politician. The very fact that their name is on the ballot soils them in my eyes.

Dammit George you are missed. I think I've pretty much gotten to the point where it's time to blame the people. As a whole I think these politicians represent the bulk of the people pretty well. And that of course doesn't include any of the fine people on this board. :taunt:

Nope. Not this year, and likely not for quite some time. I basically agree with Carlin that voting is accomplishes nothing. We just shuffle the same shit around in DC, moving it from one side of the aisle to the other, and somehow think that will improve things. I've been alive long enough to see that it doesn't. Maybe the voters are responsible like Carlin says, or maybe they are only guilty of being naive and allowing themselves to be bamboozled by the same lies year after year. Either way, I won't participate.
It's not that I don't value my vote. It's that I value it too much to give it to the twopenny hucksters I see asking for it. I will happily give my vote to someone who actually earns it, but I don't expect that to happen in my natural life.

I hear yea & understand your feelings.. That is why I don't associate myself w/ or vote for the two major players (R & D)....
I think the only one that won who I voted for was the county sheriff.... :o

I never voted before 04.
Frankly, I don't have to vote, because my state usually goes blue.
If you own property, it's important to at least vote for your local/state officials.
The national level is a joke, although we've got some good people from this state in D.C

Thanks for the post Kana, you are wise beyond your years. Carlin was not only an epic comedian, but also one of the very few who truly and objectively understood the human condition.

I had always managed a vague assimilation into these sheep like masses until about ten years ago. At which time, an unfortunate series of events allowed me to poignantly understand what humanity is actually made of. There are many different levels of nature and nurture driven social psychopaths, some with damaged self esteems and egos the size of Texas.
I can now smell the filth from these corrupt leeches of society from miles away. Their odor is most pungent among the many religious figures, salesmen and politicians - who stroke themselves by manipulating those who really have no clue! Those who cheer and follow these enchanting, charming, charismatic and gregarious individuals like lambs to the slaughter.
I now wear this pessimistic, cynical outlook on life like a badge of honor. Anyone care to join me? Misery loves company!: :crazzy: :scared1:
