sweet, that's really awesome, wouldn't it be great to have the deserts of the world generating clean, cheap and efficient energy.

Not so sure about destroying desert eco-systems.

Your roof top makes much more sense.
no loss over transmission lines,
reduces light produced thermal energy & turns some of it to electricity
reducing the cooling you need & giving you electricity to cool it with,

AND begins to start freeing you up from complete dependence on the 'grid'

Imagine if there is some disaster,
if your power source is on your rooftop you aren't crippled by transmission line failure or powerplant failure,
although you will have to make sure your system is operative.

Personal power generation also allows for the more creative to start coming up with novel solutions that might even work better.

Wouldn't you just love to be independent of corrupting, profiteering corporations?
