If my post was as difficult as reading Chinese, then you need to go slap your parents.:lmao2:

No...........
It is only difficult for non Chinese to read Chinese....:disbelief:
The Chinese Charter is a thought, not a word.......... The mind does the hard stuff of piecing it all together........ Much like what you posted.........??
It would seem universal........ Noam refers to it as Language Acquisition

To clarify, I meant if English reading folks had trouble interpreting my post. Thanks for the bit of info on the Chinese language via Chomsky. I always knew that their words needed less characters to form, this now explains why.
The research shows however, that only 55 out of 100 people can read what I posted.:disbelief:

No problem at all.
But I'm used to reading Wayers.
And I play a lot of Scrabble

Then I will be interesting to see if Wayers himself will be able to as well.:D

I was able to read it rather rapidly...as if there was no difference.
That's an interesting point..as long as the first/last letters are in place, there isn't a real problem w/comprehension.

No problem for me. I read it right along at a quick speed as tho' I was reading it in its correct form...No biggie. Very easy actually.....Chinese............now that's a whole different story......:p

very interesting.
I read it just as easily as if it were all spelled accurately (though I had to take a second to get "strange").
But, then, I've spent years reading American students' papers.
:D
I, of course, found the Chinese to be as difficult to read as if it were ... well ... Chinese.
Actually, it's more like 95% can read it.

this was covered in a book a read last year I think by Malcom Gladwell. Many speed readers and people wearing several hats in a small business use this as well.

I'm thinking that it is higher than the 55% claim also. Though the owner of a small company that I worked for several years ago, had no clue what the words meant. Not sure if there was any correlation, But the guy was a big fan of George Bush. :dunno:
Hey Frankg, come over here and read this for us.:lmao2:

I don't think this will be an excuse to just forgo spelling altogether, I notice mistakes all the time, even on posts that I've made mistakes on...although I blame double bock beers or Woodchuck Hardcider for most of my grammar or spelling gaffes.
I suppose what I'm saying is that I look at more than just the first and last letter when I'm reading words.
With that said, I digress, there are plenty of posters here that could challenge the phrase "the phenomenal power of the human mind" and not in a good way.
