As November draws near, if you listen closely, you can hear the thunder on the horizon.

It's the gathering storm.......:)

Excellent post Mint!

I miss the likes of Ronald Reagan. Whatever else he was, he was a leader in the truest sense. He stood by his principles no matter what. God bless you Mr. President.

Contrast President Reagan with the cow that is Nancy Pelosi..."we have to pass the bill (healthcare reform) before we can read it." My God. We're living in a nightmare with these leftist loons.

It's doubtful. I didn't see one.

One thing is for sure, he wouldn't have fumbled if he had to give a speech off the cuff. Reagan knew how to lead.

Ronnie and Barack are ranked very closely as communicators Cookie. You like the message of one, and don't like the message of the other.

I trusted the message of the Leader; I distrust the message of the community organizer.

That aside, a teleprompter is appropriate for serious, formal communication such as before congress and the supreme court at the state of the union address.

I don't think it's needed for informal greetings/gatherings. Even Barney Frank can speak extemporaneously in front of a crowd...

Obama can't go to the beach without one.

Plus I never heard Reagan say, "Uh," every third word.

He was able summons his own thoughts and articulate them in a casual setting without a written script.

And no, there are huges differences between the two. Reagan was a gifted writer and communicator. He personally wrote some of his speeches. I have a book of his letters, handwritten, and he was truly gifted with expressing his thoughts in writing as well as verbally. The most significant difference is, Reagan was a genuinely kind-hearted man who handled his critics with grace and a joke. Obama is mean-spirited and demonizes anyone who disagrees with him, including entire portions of the electorate.

BTW, you never did address my post about all of the instances where Obama singles out his opponents and citizens and mocks them. Can't say I blame you. It's pretty embarrassing and very unpresidential. I can honestly say if Bush had mocked the anti-war (Bush hater) protestors as Obama has done the Tea Party, I would have been embarrassed and thought much less of him. He always managed to stay above the fray.

Please. President Reagan was refined by the time he ran for public office. His leadership was tested in the governorship of California before he ran for the presidency.

This Obama person was all flash and no substance. A lightweight in every sense of the word.

He didn't use teleprompters in casual settings as Obama has to. He was able summons his own thoughts and articulate them in a casual setting without a written script. He used his teleprompter all-the-time, Minty, not that it makes any difference at all. He was a great communicator, and so is our current President. You just don't like what you have imagined the current President's message to be.

If you actually gave me some examples of "demonization", please do an old friend a favor and send me the link to your thread post or posts. I will tell you in advance that in my book deflecting baseless and slanderous slams and declining to abandon the agenda that he was elected to pursue does NOT equate with demonization. On that score, Daniel Webster would agree with me.

The past couple of days I focused a good deal of my time on a very nice exchange with another old friend, Cosmic. I may very well have missed a post or two, yours or those of other people.

I'm not going to say one unkind thing about President Ronald Reagan.

On one board, I can't remember which - posters were ripping Mark M apart for his defense of President Bush. I stood with Mark who argued in favor of respect for the office of the Presidency itself. A quaint idea, no?

Democrats did support President Bush when we were attacked. In times of national emergency that's what we as a People have always done. If the people who "disagree" with our current President don't know this is a time of national emergency, well, they just haven't been paying attention.

President Bush had to duck a shoe in Iraq. President Obama had to duck "a shoe" in our country addressing our own Congress.

There are many crises we as a People must now all face. Teleprompter-gate, fanciful tales of foreign birth, concocted tales of granny killing government run Health care, the ever popular pants on fire lie that the stimulus hasn't created one job and the other loony fantasies are certainly not among them.

Negative politics work - I get it. But at a time of national crisis that elevates party over country.

That's because he had is OWN thoughts. IMO, Obama has not expressed too many of his own thoughts and when he has, it has backfired on him. Remember this one, "The police acted stupidly"?

Or how about this one, "I'll be visiting all 57 states"? :lmao2:

Yes...Raygun had his own thoughts.

Like the ones where he condoned the use of chemical weapons against Iran, as long as he thought he had a shot at Saddam's oil.

Yep...he was a real hero.

Many people did well in the wake or Raygunomics...they purchased foreclosed houses from the govt. at app. 10 cents on the dollar.

No wonder McCain thought there would be "good opportunities" to make money after Bush crashed the economy.
