Additional troop deaths & squandering of Billions more characterized as a 'small price':
House Minority Leader John Boehner stated: "We need to continue our effort here [in Iraq] because, Wolf, long term, the investment that we're making today will be a small price if we're able to stop Al Qaeda herehttp://mediamatters.org/items/200709130005?f=h_popular

What kind of drugs is he on? 'Stop Al Qaeda here'?

His & Bush's war in Iraq especially after the exposure of wanton torture at Abu Ghaib has rallied recruitment of Al Qaeda worldwide.

It has flourished in border regions between Afghanistan & Pakistan as we dropped the ball there to pointlessly invade Iraq.

Of course this is the same dimwit who blamed troops for any Iraq failures as an excuse for Rumsfeld's bumbling there.

Where do these mindless NeoConmen mouthpieces get off anyway?

When do we unload these incubus NeoConmen, from the further soiling of America?

Stop the looting of the US treasury by these war criminals & profiteers.

Get out of Iraq NOW.

I think since the right wing are basing themselves in a morality based on the loyalty/authority/purity moral principles, rather than on the harm/fairness principles used by the antiwar progressives, that they really do see the deaths and injuries caused as "small price".

And the deaths of the Iraqis, viewed as "impure", don't count at all.

Which is fascinating, when you think about it.

Deaths and injuries received in the course of pursuing loyalty, respecty for authority, and the seeking of religious purity are seen by them as "noble" deaths, deaths worthy of ascension to heaven as angels, altruistic deaths for the good and the honor of the group (the US) to which they are loyal.

It doesn't matter that it's a lie. They believe it.

The interesting question is, does Boehner actually believe this himself, or is he cynically manipulating the moral limitations of the right wing base?

I wonder about the particular motives of leaders myself,

cynical or cement head stupid?

But ultimately it doesn't matter.

The velvet gloved iron fist is still iron.

Tearing a little velvet IS a small and NECESSARY price to pay.
