You know I have been in DC/Baltimore since Sunday. I have a perfect example why this law is needed everywhere. Sunday until Tuesday I stayed at a nice hotel in downtown Alexandria and each morning I wanted to tell the maids to simply exchange my towels but guess what, not a damn one of them spoke english.

Now I am in Baltimore, same thing again, so I went and got this phrase off of google:

They spoke English. Trust me. You didn't get the towels because of other reasons.....like maybe your attitude towards maids in general. LOL! I have even said "No comprendo" to a guest that was being a racist asshole (I don't think you are, but this guy called me Jesus so I laid it on thick. LOL!) I also didn't sanitise his toilet! LOL!

Actually only the department manager spoke English. Here is 25-30 jobs at every large hotel that some of our welfare recipients could be occupying. If you can't learn the base language, I say out you go.

Perhaps the problem is not language but cultural/economics..

I find that many service ppl, especially @ nicer establishments seem to cater to big tippers..

Perhaps holding a few gringo greenbacks while smiling & saying " Meda' hey babe, hit me up w/ some clean linen & bring a tub of ice a few extra towels por favor"......:lmao2:
