I call the national press left because that's what the overwhelming majority of it is. Here's the breakdown:
Left
-NY Times (the national paper of record from which almost every other major press outlet takes their cue)
-Washington Post
-ABC
-NBC
-CBS
-MSNBC
-CNN
-PBS & NPR (both of which I'm forced to subsidize)
-Time Magazine
Right
-FoxNews
-Wall Street Journal
-Drudge (not even really a press outlet in and of itself but rather a story aggregator but I'll include it anyway)
-most of talk radio
And for decades until Congress stopped with that "equal time" nonsense at the end of the 80s which finally allowed some right-sided talk radio to flourish, the left had a virtual monopoly on the press.
