Do you favor or oppose the recommendation made by General David Petraeus to withdraw 30,000 soldiers from Iraq but leave 130,000 troops in place at least through the summer?
43% Support Petraeus Recommendation
38% Oppose
19% Not Sure
Also,
37% have a favorable opinion of Petraeus
18% have an unfavorable view of Petraeus
45% have no opinion of the General at this time
71% say that it is somewhat or very likely that “a large number of U.S. soldiers will remain in Iraq five years from today.”
Men favor the Petraeus approach by a 49% to 39% margin.
Women are evenly divided.
Those with higher incomes are generally more supportive of the plan than those with lower incomes.
65% of Americans followed news of the Petraeus testimony at least somewhat closely this week.
