I was watching some cable news show and kept running into these stories about this scam artist named Hsu or something - the commentators kept going on about ties to Mrs Clinton and other democratic "hopefuls" and their responses - and then I saw someone actually try to denigrate some democrats because of this guys actions!

I had to think back in time and finally found the archives - where I had questioned something ages ago and someone did finally do a write up of the event - and the question still comes up in my memory occasionally - When is Bush going to return the $1.14 million that Enron gave him for his campaign - after all the courts have ruled for the plantiffs that they should recieve any outstanding monies due - and Im still waiting for this story to resurface.

Heres an explanation of the behind the scenes "what really happened" in the Enron scandal :

Starting back when The Gramms (the Senator and his wife - the head of the Commodities Futures Trading Commission at the time) and following the real story.

Shell game.

She's giving back the money but allowing the people to give it right back.

The Clinton's have been getting money illegally from foreign governments for years. They should both be thrown in prison for the rest of their natural lives for the good of the world.

So you agree that Bush should as well for accepting 1.4 mill from Enron?

Donations from Enron do not violate any laws I am aware of.

Donations from foreign governments violates the US Constitution. But of course, many Liberals have never actually read the document, so I'll give you a hint, politicians are not to take money, land or titles from foreign governments under any circumstances. These "gifts" are to be turned over to the American people if received.

They do when it is ill-gotten money - which Enron has been crimninally charged with - and is the same basic charge that this Hsu guy has been charged with - therefore it does violate the same laws - the point is not that any of his contributions were illegal - they werent - he was involved in other criminal scams and everyone figured it would be best not to be associated with him - however Bush has never separated himself from Enron and still has not given back that money - even though all of the employees lost all of their investments

Could you please post a reference to the overseas contributions - I have never heard this and would be interested to follow that one

Sorry, but the convictions were AFTER the elections. It was, after all, President Bush that enforced the laws that got Enron's executives arrested. They were free to steal and plunder under Clinton, but Bush put an end to it.

Doesn't sound like he was bought off with a little contrabutions. Rather, seems like he did his job.

In the case of Her Majesty, Mrs. Bill Clinton, the contributions were against Constitutional Law and, having accepted them, does fall under both the civilian and military purview of High Crimes and Misdemeanors and, if you look at it just right, you might be able to make a valid argument to try them for treason, though a conviction based on the facts would be very hard to attain.

Im not able to find any news stories that talk about anything from overseas?

As far as Bush - you are among the easily misled if you think that Bush didnt have a hand in Enron from way back - but that would make for a really good separate thread where we can give you some evidence of how much Bush and his brother Jeb were involved in the scandal on the bad end - theyve been able to cover up some of it - but there are some pretty good investigators looking into it right now and may even be what ends up bringing an end to the Bush presidency sooner than he thought
