A short entry - AP Photographer Charlie Riedel just filed the following images of seabirds caught in the oil slick on a beach on Louisiana's East Grand Terre Island. As BP engineers continue their efforts to cap the underwater flow of oil, landfall is becoming more frequent, and the effects more evident. (8 photos total)

I have seen many pelicans close up while kayaking in the ocean & it breaks my heart to see that & there is really little that can be done to prevent it continuing........

The CEO of BP seems like a real ass......... Perhaps he will say the birds are getting sick & dying from food poisoning as well??

I hate to see it too, but pelicans aren't the smartest creatures on the planet, hell there are several bridges in the eastern coastal areas where they get hit by cars on bridges.

Where is the empathy dog?? You know cats & dogs get hit all the time to...

When I have been kayaking w/ them around diving right next to me, you can see they are not very graceful when they slam into the water to catch fish (It looks painful) but this is quite tragic & on a huge scale..
