View Full Version : Housing slump forces mortgage brokers to turn home into a whorehouse
So there were these nice mortage brokers (like that's possible), see.
They had a house, they wanted to sell for 750k. No surprise, in this economy, it won't sell.
They drop price to 600k - still won't sell.
They panic, turn house into dominitrix brothel.
Get busted.
One of the couple’s Pleasantville neighbors seemed pretty sure business problems were at the root of the shocking news. “I know they’re mortgage brokers,” Peter Passidomo said. “And I know it’s been a tough business, so I assume they might have had financial difficulty.”

Moral of the story? You can rip people off with shady mortagages, and everybody loves you - but spank a businessman for money, yer going down!

A lot of mortgage brokers are essentially morally equivalent to whores.
Have you heard of all the re-finance schemes to rip off home owners?
They make a lot of false promises, then a month after the new mortgage is operating the payments suddenly jump up, because despite the broker's assurances the special interest rate was for only one month.
A lot of these people are just criminals, who our twisted, unregulated system allows to operate completely unimpeded.
Anything for money.

But, even as dispicable as they are, they're still better then Lawyers, most doctors and every politician!

i thought politicians WERE whores?
While i certainly don't put doctors on a pedestal i think many are well motivated.
There are some good lawyers, there are also a lot of sickening slimebags.
politicians give whores a bad name.
With a whore at least you know what you are buying,
& you don't end up doing it in a public restroom.
But, even as dispicable as they are, they're still better then Lawyers, most doctors and every politician!
Perhaps the first thing you've said that I can say with confidence would be accepted as valid by pretty much everybody here.
The only folks who'd disagree would be those folks getting foreclosed.

Actually I would tend to totally disagree - and no Im not getting foreclosed - I, like Bill was smart enough to pay off my mortgage :)
The brokers that exist today based on the changes Bush allowed a few years back when he was trying to stimulate the housing market, are the biggest economic problem we have in the US right now - the non-regulation end that Bush put in place has allowed these people to do business with no security/equity to back it up - the paper reseller market has become a place where even lawyers wont tread in their own interests - they know that they will end up on the same chopping block that Enron ended up on - and for many of the same reasons.
Although I despise lawyers - I would have to say that doctors are not on that list for me - the health plans and insurance scam that has been pulled off on the American people over the last 30 years is despicable - but the doctors really didnt have a hand in that - they were required to get insurance when it wasnt really necessary(all we would have had to do is say NO you cant sue doctors) - which led to the entire health care industry and insurance industry. I remember quite well an America with no need for health care insurance and doctors that took care of you instead of paperwork - and reasonable prices at hospitals. That time is long gone but hopefully someone will take the time in the future to expose the scam that was played on America and its citizens by the insurance and legal industry

I'm happy for the two of you being able to pay off your mortgages....not so simple for alot of folks...I'm sure many out there would love to do just that so they could feel safer in the coming days of the economy going bottom up...its just a matter of time don't you think????
