I noticed this a week or two ago on a bunch of republican blogs - there was a little conference/workshop held - open to conservatives/republicans only - and hosted by Google and the Heritage Foundation

Maybe this explains the censorship we are seeing under Google News recently that I have posted examples of

Individuals at Google definitely contribute to Democrats more than Reps - but the company has taken on the role of hosting conservative groups like the above story - just the difference between the companies stand and the employees - the contributions in that old 2005 story are nothing compared to what their employees all got when Google went public - every one of them became multi-multi-millionaires

If you want to hate google then do it for thier selling out of china's people to thier totalitarian government.

What they are doing with conservatives is just another corporate game of feed both sides of the power structure.

mwillman- google didnt sell anyone out - china blocks google regularly with filters - they also inprison anyone caught running a website that falls into certain categories - all google did in my eyes was try to help those people from being caught and killed.
I get lots of traffic from google china everyday to my sites - although Im sure some interpreted their intentions differently than the intent

The Google poltical angle on the other hand is something that affects every US citizen that uses the internet for information - I posted a link to a news story on google news where it was obvious google had censored the hundreds of articles that were run in the mainstream press where a man had beaten the IRS and been acquitted - the only reason I noted it was I use google news a lot and was interested in what he had done - the day the story hit the wires there were literally hundreds of stories on google news - a week later there is one story left that is on a blog - and thats it - it had been scrubbed by Google news - I even checked their archives to make sure that they hadnt just moved it

I have always felt that Google was more hype then substance.

Thier stock price is way over inflated for what they produce.

As for thier politics, they get alot of attention but they have alot less influence then say GE or Boeing.

Yea, cause that's so much worse then CBS, NBC, ABC or CNN doing it every day in their media broadcasts, right?

Then don't buy their stocks. I don't. But they are a free enterprise, they may choose to do what they want as it is not illegal. Likewise, as, allegedly, free people, we are free to use our money as we see fit too.

Its just another example of hypocritical BS Jennifer - Google has always publicly said that they do not censor anything and do not promote any specific political stance through their corporation
I should have prefaced the original post with that since I just made an assumption that everyone knew the background of Google
