View Full Version : It is now illegal to EXIST in the united states
Funny Story.
Man does nothing illegal.
Get's arrested anyway.
Screw circuit city. I never liked that place anyway. I won't be buying anything there in the future.
"Shortly after being booked, fingerprints and all, Officer Arroyo presented me with my charges:
ORD:525.07: Obstructing Official Business (M-2)
(a) No person, without privilege to do so and with purpose to prevent, obstruct or delay the performance by a public official of any authorized act within the public official’s offical capacity shall do any act that hampers or impedes a public official in the performance of the public official’s lawful duties.
Not being able to find the law in the books that states that a citizen must provide a driver’s license while walking through a parking lot, Officer Arroyo had to settle for “obstructing official business.” Keep in mind that the official business that I was supposedly obstructing was business that I initiated by calling the police. I called for help and I got arrested."

Bill, my honset opinion is that the guy is and was being a jerk.
I'm in favor of citizen's rights...in fact, I'm sort of freakish about it retaining them, but common sense and maturity should enter when, where and what to choose to fight over. We all know and pay for shoplifting...the door guy was simply providing an obsticle to theft.
I don't see why someone would get a case of the ass to have his bags looked into...the door guy didn't ask for anything private...such as his ID.
The whole idea of the checker is to sort out those who resist allowing their bafs to be check...as they have some reason not to show their reciept...exactly what this jerk had done...why did he expect different treatment.
The later discord with the police and his driver's licence, was and is still, a question of confronting authority...this cannot be allowed to psee unchallenged.
Whether this guy gets off or is fined, is not thier concern...they want to hammer him a bit for not being afraid of police power.
Not much like public servants whoe job it is to protect out rights, but give a guy a gun to walk the streets and son he's a gunslinger. A mature individual doesn't pick unneccessary fights with that croud...especially when it's so easy (before any conflict begins) to give them the signals that you think they are a great service worthy of admiration and are confident they will soon sort the whole mess out.
If anyone walks down a city street, they can find fifty people to fight with in the first five minutes...no one would choose to fight all fifty as that would prove hurtful to body and spirit...so why in hell pick the one person...obviously armed one person who has been trained to quell any and all trouble (using his radio if shooting you seems illadvised) to piss off? Your personal right to be rude and ignorant?
The street is not a court room...there no one to object to you being sapped, and only your story about how you didn't deserve it to go with your lump.
When you are on the street, you need to use your own talents to quell the possible ugly situation in the chamber...this asshole didn't, and has lost...no matter what happens legally.
Stefan
Go out and buy a bunch of circuit city products then, Stefan.
That's your perogative.

While you are still inside a store they can check anything they want - just like walmart does - thats why they have a disclaimer sign posted at the entrence saying that they do it - and like Bill says - that gives us the choice of not spending money there
The outside confrontation should get taken on and the police dept will probably end up paying the guy some money

I think the guy is a moron. Why he didnt just open up the bag and show the products and the receipts he would have been fine and 30 seconds later he would have been on his way.
The shop thought he may have been stealing and just wanted to check him out. He is a drama queen who has made a mountain out of a mole hill.
If he had nothing to hide then why was he acting like he did?

I always show the bag with the items I have purchased and the reciept but I dont let them look in my backpack.
If they dont want me to carry my backpack around they should have a check in but they dont need to check it otherwise.
Funny, I don't recall people asking to check my bags or receipts at the exits of any stores lately.
Sometimes the cashiers don't sweep the items past the degausser well enough, so that electronic gate dohickey beeps.
If a store wanted to search me every time I exited, they would have to be selling something pretty damn special to get me to come back any time soon.
Maybe I don't look like a shoplifter.

Some of the big stores like Compusa have people check your reciept but most dont.

Bill - any walmart that you go to should have a receipt checker at the exit - by their procedures any item that is not bagged going out the exit should be checked on a receipt with a highlighter by that person. - thats one of the many reasons I try to avoid walmarts
