On Tuesday morning, members of CNN's political A-team sat on a stage in the Time Warner Center for the network's annual upfront-like presentation and debated the findings of a new CNN poll.

At one point, Anderson Cooper, who was emceeing, asked about the GOP's presumed presidential candidates for 2012. The poll had found Mike Huckabee in the lead with 24 percent support from the survey's participants, followed by Mitt Romney with 20 percent, Sarah Palin with 15, Newt Gingrich at 14, and Ron Paul at 8.

What to make of this?

For the next few moments, John King, Mary Matalin, Roland Martin, David Gergen, and Wolf Blitzer took turns knocking down the significance of Mr. Huckabee's lead. It was too early to know anything. The field was wide open. Finally, Candy Crowley jumped in with a theory for Huckabee's early lead.

He has a weekly variety show on Fox News!

"That helps," said Ms. Crowley.

The reference to Fox News' Huckabee drew a murmur from the partisan CNN crowd.

Across the stage, Roland Martin feigned surprise upon hearing that Mr. Huckabee has a show on Fox News. "He does?" said Mr. Martin.

That got some chuckles.

Okay, okay. Ms. Crowley looked over at her fellow CNN anchors and pundits, "I know you all aren't watching."

Being a Fox News shill will certainly not hurt Huck's chances of getting the Repug nomination, but it is way too early too early to give speculation any credence yet. Personally, I don't see any Repug out there right now that will seriously challenge Obama. The nomination process has become a two year endeavor and I expect the hype to start next year and continue until the election.

I know this comment has nothing to do with the subject, but seeing that Mary Matalin was on the panel I have to ask when will she and her husband James Carville just disappear? I've have more than had my share of those two over the past 16 years.

If they nominate that nut case, Obama wins in a landslide.

Same results will happen if they nominate Palin or Gingrich too.

This is true.
It might be great for the Republican base, but most Americans don't want a religious nut as their President.

Anyone with half a brain thats thinks for themselves can see that ESPECIALLY since the keeping hiring wingers from the right, like the guy from the conservative red state website to be contributors....BUT those like Minty and commoncents that are completely and utterly brainwashed with this "msm" left wing bias bullspit cant see whats right in front of them and smacking them square in the face.Didnt they just hire Eric Erikson on......oh yeah he is SOOOOOOOOOOO slanted towards the left.
