Should the watch dog be part of the Federal Reserve or outside?

Should we even have government involved?

Should large banks be broken up?

Should we just allow a repeat of the Saving & Loan Crisis and the more recent crash in 2007?

The more government gets involved the worse off we are.

In an audacious series of bets on the expected upturn of major Wall Street banks, Mr Tepper, founder of Appaloosa Management, is estimated to have personally earned $4bn in 2009

He made the money by rightly predicting that the US government wouldn't allow major banks to fold and then compounded his profits as the share prices of the financial institutions recovered throughout last year.

No company should be "to big to fail"......... If they are to big to fail they are to big to be...........

I always find it interesting that the wing nuts don't have opinions on such important issues until the programmers start talking about it on the radio and TV and then they seem to have the opinions of those people.

True. You didn't express an opinion on the subject of your OP.

Well, as for the Federal Reserve being the watch dog ..................... Geithner was head of the NY reserve, supposedly overseeing Wall Street as the financial crisis went down.

IMO, from what I've heard of the Financial Reform proposal (with an Apollo Project leader on the board), it has the ability to break up businesses, even if there's only a chance they might have problems.

It gives way to much over-reaching power, if everything I heard is implemented. At this point, I don't trust anything in bills that lawmakers don't read.

The United States government took over a brothel in Nevada once and went out of business shortly there after. If they can't make money selling liquor and pussy then the government does not need to have oversight into anything else.
