View Full Version : Good Books?
Any recommendations?
I usually order about 10 to 12 books at once and then read them whenever I find the time, which is rare with a 3 year old. I'm lucky to read a book a month really.
I was cruising Amazon and loaded up my cart with some of my favorite spy authors like McNabb and Silva. I also ordered some classics and even a new version of The Art Of War.
Any recommendations on history/political books before I place my final order?
Thanks

I'm a fan of Silva, as well, and I really like James Rollins' new books.
Barack Obama's the Audacity of Hope is a great book no matter what your political leanings are.
Happy Reading. :)

These are my favorite bathroom books. I go through at least
a couple of pages every time I have a private sitdown on the
porcelain altar.
I don't actually read them, I just use the pages to wipe my ass.
I used to wipe my ass with Charmin, but the paper is too fragile,
and sometimes my finger would poke through and get shit on it.
I hate that.
Fortunately the problem has been solved, now that I wipe my ass
with Coulter and O'Reilly. No more slimy shit ends up on my fingers,
it stays where it belongs: on Bill and Ann's fascist propaganda.
I hope this book review has been helpful.

What's really scary is that a very large book store in Charleston, SC had these books every where for Christmas season. Right as you walk in they were there being offered as Christmas gifts.
In January I asked for a copy of the Iraq Study Group Report which was released in paper back. After much talking among the staff and managers they claimed that they didn't order any and that they couldn't find any in the state. I ended up buying a copy during a trip to DC.
For Christmas people wants books of hate and fiction but refuse to even consider a book of truth that contradicts the administration.

By far the best book I have ever read, 3 times now and checked footnotes for accuracy, is Kevin Philips, Wealth & Democracy. It is economic history of the USA and even for non-econ wonks is an eye popper.
Kevin Philips was one of Nixon's speechwriters most infamous for developing the famed "Southern Strategy' that has led to the right wing domination of American politics.
Mostly though Mr. Philips has apologized to anyone who will listen for the mistakes of his youth.
