Seems Hannity has been doing a little outside work - but in this case Fox was quick to defend him with this:

"Hannity declined to comment, but his bosses at Fox News Channel and WABC, flagship station for his national radio show, defended their marquee star by arguing that he's not a journalist and shouldn't be judged as one.

"Sean is not a journalist - Sean is a conservative commentator," said Bill Shine, Fox's senior vice president of programming"

I think it's funny that everyone in the world knows that except the people that watch him on a regular basis.

When has Hannity ever denied being a conservative? He has made quite clear he supports Rudy as well.

What's the issue here again?

Both he and Bill O have claimed to be journalists. You know, people that report the news.

Now his boss says that he's not, which is something that most people always knew. Many people believe that Fox News is actually a news station and it might be considered that for part of the day but far more hours are spent commentating then are reporting the news in a fair and balanced manner.

I guess. I have never heard either claim not to be a commentator who is biased by their own views. All the news channels have commentator shows. Only morons would consider these shows news.

The other distinction it makes - which is kinda the underlying issue that started all of this is that it is against most "news stations" policies for journalists to raise money for or to take money for appearances at political functions. This is why the question came up in the first place as Hannity had claimed many times he was a journalist - so Fox to save face had to reverse that claim

Is there not enough to dislike about Sean Hannity without playing semantics. Only morons would think he is an unbiased newsman.

No semantics about it - he is NOT a newsman which is what unfortunately Fox has tried to pass him off as up until now (granted people with half a brain know what he really is as well as all the other "casters" over there as well as most "news" programs.)

The reason this became an issue was in response to someone else that did something very similar back in 2004 and was terminated from their job as a caster because of it - and its been a little tiff going back and forth ever since - just interesting to watch everyone on both sides self-destruct while waiting for the shoe to fall on the US

I know doctors, lawyers and even school teachers that believe Fox News is a news station. The lawyers I understand but the school teachers I find scary.

Whether or not their news programs are news is another debate. One we'd probably agree on, but irrelevant to Hannity who does a commentating program.

Again, not sure what you mean, I have never seen anyone declare Hannity, Colmes, O'Rielly, Olberman, Carlson, Dobbs, etc. as newsmen. They are commentators. Everyone knows this.
