NAFTA II goes stealth: Security & Prosperity Partnership
Mexican, US & Canadian government leaders are attempting to create a NAFTA II.
But fearing opposition they are going to do it entirely 'stealth' by implementing it all in regulatory edicts rather than utilize actual legislation.
Business interests are twisting it into everyone of their crooked, wicked wishes and completely excluding all the people of each nation upon whom it will be imposed.
the SPP is being negotiated with input exclusively from the business elites in the three countries. Given the wide scope of areas under negotiation - national security, energy, trade - surely there's a need for a much wider consultation involving the public.
Since the SPP initiative was officially launched in March 2005, the public has been effectively shut out of the process. There's been little awareness, let alone public debate, about what's going on. The key advisory body in the SPP is an all business group called the North American Competitiveness Council, made up of 30 CEOs from the United States, Canada and Mexico. http://commentisfree.guardian.co.uk/linda_mcquaig/2007/08/sppeak_no_evil.html
Secrecy is the ally of criminals.
