Just curious, isn't US debt financed for 20 years?
Now all you have to do is look at the trend
Bill Clinton created the budgets and plans for the years 1994 - 2001. George W. Bush created those same plans for - 2002 - 2009.
Just look at the numbers based on percentages or totals. The trend is quite clear if you have the ability to see it and understand it.

Methinks your blame is misplaced.

Well, the Dems now want to raise the debt limit to $14.3 Trillion. And Obama's programs will bring the debt up to $19 Trillion plus in 10 years.
So, shouldn't we be more concerned about what we're doing now and in the future?

Probably not. After all, Obama believes that the way to reduce all of this debt is even greater deficit spending. :crazzy:
Another way to look at the numbers is through simple spending and percentage increases. This one has nothing to do with revenue.

Spending came down from the projections for 2009 to
3.5 trillion.
Estimates for 2010 are 3.7 trillion
That makes Bush look a lot better with only a 49% increase in annaul spending which is still double the Clinton years, much closer to Reagan but better than 53%.
This also puts Obama on a 5.4% increase which is better then the years when the GOP controlled the White House and Cogress.
I think he is just using Obama talking points, you know - Blame Bush!
Who's using a talking point here?
I'm just pointing out historical facts over a period of time to show trends. You should try it sometime. It's much better than using the talking point that you just used.
Instead of learning from it.
Wouldn't it be nice if some people would actually take a few minutes to look at historical facts and learn from it? :banghead:

Come on Pat. You know that it's more complicated than that. the President is the leader. Created spending bills and budgets. Sure congress votes on them and can often add spending but their ability to cut out presidential programs is limited since the President has veto power, a pulpit for America that no one in congress can achieve and the ability to create some emergency spending.

Maybe it needs to return to being that simple.
OK. So I've posted actual numbers for spending, deficit and how it compares.
Now here are the unemployment numbers measured on the month a President started and the month that same President left office.
Notice a trend?

Those numbers on post #1 correspond with the economic and world situation of that time. During the last couple of years of Bush Sr. he had a mild recession and we were still involved in the cold war. When Clinton came in, the economy was good, he was able to steadily increase taxes, and the cold war was basically over, so he made large cuts in military spending. When Bush Jr came in, he was hit with a recession and 9/11, so he cut taxes to revive the economy. Also because of the 9/11 attacks, he had to substantially increase military spending to address the war on terrorism, create homeland security agency and invest substantially more money in law enforcement and intelligence.
Those numbers make perfect sense when you know all the factors involved.

lol, still they defend him...when the numbers show a historicsl trend of every R except Reagan leaving the country worse than when they came into office and Reagan had to increase the national debt to do it. They think it's just coincidence and world events that caused Are - presidents to do this...the numbers are the whole story...
I love how according to history Obama will decrease our spending and increase jobs, yet no one wants to give him a chance to win. Pundits for the destruction of this country should be the slogan.

How high do we let the debt climb to? It's great to sit around and point the finger and play partisan games. Blame Obama. Blame Bush. Blame Congress. But this doesn't alleviate our children from the massive debt they are going to have to payback. When do we actually start paying this back?

So we have to wait for history to do this for him? So far, he has bucked the trend. He is spending more that ALL other presidents have to date COMBINED. But you will trust that he will turn that around based on history? Apparently the present doesn't mean anything to you.
Here's the numbers that CommonCents is lying about today. It's US debt as a percentage of GDP. Why do people care so little about their own country to not know this stuff already? :banghead:

No one will pay the debt back ever, so don't sweat it.
The times when debt as currency doesn't make sense is long gone.
We will progress to a global government and currency and eventually all talk of debt will disapear.
No one could contest government spending when there is only one game in town.
Good times are coming and lots of free stuff too:yay:
Here's some more data for people to either ignore, accept or attack. It shows historic interest rates. People have claimed that tax cuts are what boost the economy but we've seen rounds of tax cuts not improve the economy and we've recently seen tax increases leading to the best and most stable economy we've seen in decades.
Has any bothered to look at how interest rates effect the economy?
Here are the historic interest rates from The Federal Reserve. I believe that most people here don't understand how The Fed works but I'll post the numbers any way.

Here's another telling set of numbers that some will hate. It shows GDP growth based on 2005 dollars per President. I did the term total and the annual average for both total GDP growth and per capita GDP growth.
Some already know this but others will be shocked to learn that the 3 Presidents that did the worst were H. Bush, W. Bush and Carter with Carter beating both Bush Presidents.
Of course this is just more number crunching and I'm sure that it can't compare to emotion, scare tactics and propaganda.

Probably not. After all, Obama believes that the way to reduce all of this debt is even greater deficit spending. :crazzy:
Clinton just said on an interview that he thinks we should have more stimulus. He also said that slow economic growth can be fixed by devising ways to increase lender confidence to make them start loaning to businesses and consumers again.

Who controls the spending, the president or the congress?
Methinks your blame is misplaced.
Pat,
The President controls spending. Have you ever heard of that Veto Pen. Congress can send spending bills for signature, but it is not spent until the President signs it.
You may remember that Clinton shut down the entire government rather than let Congress continue their out of control spending.
Here are numbers based on Household Median Income. I took them from this site http://www.davemanuel.com/median-household-income.php
It appears that they used The Consumer Price Index based on 2008 dollars for inflation adjustment or at least when I used this site it came out the same. http://www.measuringworth.com/uscompare/
Again it shows what many already know but some refuse to accept.
It clearly shows that even Jimmy Carter increased the Median Income of American House Holds more than either Bush and that Clinton, ignoring supply side economics and trying to reign in debt instead of massively increase did a better job.
It also shows that it wasn't until 1984 before Reagan was able to get traction and improve the economy but of course, Obama should do it over night.

Carter was the worst motherfucker we have had in my lifetime and for anyone else in the midwest. This motherfucker we have now will prove to be even worse. Please leat us know when you are ready to discuss 2010.

I guess with so many facts and such a large amount of supporting evidence to support what you're saying, why should anyone even consider not accepting your opinion? :lmao2:
I'll just keep all these numbers in the same place.

Unless you live or lived in the Midwest, you are talking out of your ass as usual Moby.

Talking out of my ass how Wayers?
Specifically what happened to the Midwest states under Carter? I'm just asking for some information outside of your own opinion.
Let's look at unemployment in Michigan.
Carter's first full month in office unemployment was 8.8% and his last full month in office it was 12.4%, a 40% increase.
Under George W. Bush when he took office unemployment was 4.4% and when he left office it was 11.3% a 150% increase.
Illinois Carter 6.1% to 8.8% a 44% increase.
W. Bush 4.9% to 8.1% or a 65% increase.
I'm certainly not making any claims that Carter was a good President but what do you base your opinion that he was the worst ever and that Bush was better?

Look into how many family farms went under during the Carter years, I guess you have forgotten about the all the tractors that showed up in DC one day protesting his policies. Your partisan cheerleading is very revealing to the person you actually are.

Why are you having such a hard time just posting some stuff?

I am not having a hard time, your lack of memory is astounding. Can you ever be anything but a partisan cheerleader?

Wayers, I wasn't of voting age at the time and it was over 30 years ago.
When did the farmers protest? Do you remember?
Was it in protest of the Agriculture and Consumer Protection Act of 1973 that ended in 1997? That would make sense because the Agriculture and Consumer Protection Act of 1977 increased farm subsidies more than Carter wanted but they were still increased.
What policies were the farmers protesting?
Was there a major increase in farms going under and what were the numbers?
Look, I've posted a lot of facts and figures in this thread so that we can all learn. I took a look at unemployment for 2 states and they both were hit hard under the Carter and W. Bush administration. Why is it partisan to show those numbers?
I'm asking you to support your claims because I'm not finding information on it. If you remember, than please share when it happened, exactly what happened and why you think it happened.
Wayers, OK I finally found some information about Tractorcade when 6,000 farmers came to Washington, DC demanding that the government guarantee higher prices and stop foreclosures of farms not making payments on loans.
It seems like they were looking for bailouts similar to what's happened recently with some different industries and Americans that purchased homes. I'm surprised that you would support this type of move.
Totally shocked to be honest.

I did not say I did, I was a child during that time as well, but I watched my old man contemplate suicide because he owned a fertilizer and lime business that suffered greatly. I have horrible memories of watching my Father during those years wondering how he could provide for us. Carter ruined my child hood and left a permenent scar that can never be forgotten.
Here's an update to some numbers.

Probably not. After all, Obama believes that the way to reduce all of this debt is even greater deficit spending. :crazzy:
The deficit decline every year of Obama. So try again.

Why did you stop at 2009?
The thread was from 2010. The figures weren't in yet.
Why did you stop at 2009?
I didn't stop. That's what was available at the time. You're welcome to update the table and the information if you want.
I found that these facts don't matter to people that buy into the Neocon media.
Look at how many people have decided to post other long term factual information to counter what I've posted here or to support a different belief.
