I find it so strange that people claim to love America and then spread hate at citizens that disagree.

What do you love about America?

primarily- the ability to succeed regardless of one's birthright. But there are a million other reasons that I love America as well.

Freedom to choose how we want to live. Freedom of speech. Freedom to either succeed or fail on our own merits. The generosity and diversity of the American people. There are a million reasons why I love America....

I love the opportunity we have here to create our destiny, voice our opinions wothout a machine gun pointed at us, choose our own healthcare physcian, plan for our retirements and enjoy life to the fullest.

It is sad that many of those things are changing right before our eyes and supported by those that want their futures dictated to them.

To those people "government" is their god.

What I love about America is the concept that was conceived by the founders of this country that a nation could form a government that is one which is of, by and for the people. The fact that they believed that people are the government and can control their own destiny and not have their fate determined by a king or dictator is pretty cool.

What I hate about America is that the people then allowed the concept to be corrupted so that corporations now receive the rights and privileges that were reserved for this nation's citizens.

seein as this board is primarily a leftist cesspool- how much action would you expect a "what do you love about America" thread to get?

Moby...I missed your thread (hence, my near duplicate thread below). I've copied and pasted from my thread:

I love the country's consistent drive to perfect it's society. While one's "freedom" once hinged on gender and/or race, the brave strides that have been made to accept all people/ideas are stunning albeit not yet nearly complete (many of these strides have likely left the founding fathers red faced). The drive, innovation and progress the country has experienced over the last hundred years (technology, life expectancy, quality of like) is mind blowing...an example for the rest of the world.

I love our ingenuity but don't like the ideas that try to squash it.

I love the fact that we take the best and brightest from around the world and give them a chance to blossom but don't like the ideas of closing borders.

I grew up inside the beltway and always loved the diversity, the tech centers and the combination of cultures. "Give us your poor, your tired, your huddled masses longing to be free..." I would bet that none of us are Natives to America.

While many may see America as a bunch of people with the same ideas, the same backgrounds living in small towns I think of America differently. The vast majority of Americas live in suburbs of metro areas. This is where technology is invented and often by diverse groups of people that aren't even welcome in rural America.

In many countries people can choose their own physician, plan for retirement, choose a destiny, speak their mind and refuse to speak the mind of others.
