How to appoint judges?

We need a better way to appoint judges. It takes the Senate forever to approve them. Presidents appoint activists. In the end Americans get screwed.

Thoughts?

Maybe there should be term limits on judges too. Perhaps no more lifetime appointments and a method of holding judges responsible for their rulings or a method of the citizens being able to overturn a judge's decision if it flys in the face of common sense.

Term limits might make sense. I don't know how you can make judges responsible for rulings though.
