It would sure be awesome for them to find that cure. I wish they could find one for Alzheimers as well. My mom had that for seven years before passing on......

Suddenly and mysteriously, all the scientists involved are killed by pharmaceutical companies wanting to keep profits high......don't laugh, the inventor of diesel fuel met this fate.

Gee whiz. They discovered p53 30! years ago, :disbelief: and still haven't nailed down something to replace it's function in a cell? Is it just me or does that seem kinda slow?

Or maybe someone high up didn't want it discovered then...who the heck knows. And then again, it could be just beauracy, slowing it up. But for 30 years? That's not slow. That's coming to a halt......

Gotta love that socialized medicine!!!

Sir David Lane, chairman of Singapore A*STAR's Biomedical Research Council, has received the Royal Gold Medal for his outstanding contribution to cancer research through his discovery of p53 tumour suppressor gene.

Congratulating Dr. Lane, A*STAR (Agency for Science, Technology and Research) Chairman Lim Chuan Poh said, "David is most deserving of the award, and I extend my deepest congratulations to him. His outstanding work on p53 and the impact they have on cancer research worldwide highlight the contributions of basic research to advancing human healthcare. David is an example of how a passionate and persevering scientist can make such a difference to the world through research and development."

That is terrible- I was kinda thinking the same thing.....

Some of these companies are thinking "we are gonna loZe some money on this deal."......... "Can't they cure it after I retire"............

Sorry to hear of your loss… My condolences to you & your family…

thanks Bill, it was on May 24. It was a really weird week. My son was married May 30 so his grandmother died May 24 and his wife's grandfather dies May 25th.

It is the curse. When my dad married my stepmother, my grandfather (his dad died). When I married 15 years later my grandmother (his mother died). I told my son that when he has kids he has to make them promise that they will never marry.;)

Lucy, did you read the Blog Forum rules?

Special Rules
1. Thread per user. That's it. You can only start 1 thread in here.
2. It must begin with your Handle. example - "SirMoby's Recipes", "Smurf's Smoke Filled Room" ...

While we're going to be more forgiving with these, escpesially where it comes to bumping, you should still try to act like a responsible adult.

No racial, gender, ethnic or sexual orientation slurs.

No threatening statements against another board member or personal attacks against a member's family.

No criminal accusations against others that have not been supported or are not being pursued in US court.

No cutting and pasting from another source without posting a link to that source.

No multiple nick names.

No spamming the board.

No bumping your own threads.

No pornographic material.

Any clarification involves basic common sense.

Lucy, did you read the Blog Forum rules?

no and i didn't read the board rules either.

i gotta tell you that is a lame rule ~ like my blog isn't what i want to call it? i thought the idea of a blog was that it was an individual thing. why isn't it enough that the blog starter name is lucy ~ it's kind of a hint whose it is.

lol hell i'm tired and only read the 1st rule, bet i probably broke more or at least not following the essence of what you think a blog is.

delete this thread/blog and i'll try again one day maybe.

damn i actually had a nice little rant re democrats and healthcare. i'll see if i can fit it into another thread before i fall asleep.

Moby's rule - identifying the Blog owner by their name in the title.

i'm not really fond of passive aggressive behaviour, esp from a mod ~ you felt strongly enough to post the rules in my blog and i ask you to act on it. either close it or delete it.
