Most all Americans hate freedom and will trade it in to the government for safety and comfort. Assuming you are in this 99% of Americans, and to celebrate our upcoming Independence Day, what is it that you hate most about the idea of freedom?
For most it's about the fear of personal responsibility I think, but would like to see if there are other reasons.
That americans lie about having it so much.
A totally trapped and unfree people, idiotically blathering about how free they are.

I really don't see why we disagree so often. That's exactly how I feel.
I've never felt that we actually disagree, Kres.
I just experience your rhetoric as a little clumsy at times.
(rhetoric is not a bad word in my lexicon, btw - it means to me simply "language intended to persuade". It's often used by people as a slur, but they actually mean, "I don't like _your_ rhetoric, but my rhetoric is ok.". Which is, of course, what I'm doing with your rhetoric, in a sense, and yes, I'm aware of the irony. ;-} )
And, your proposed political solution seems unrealistic to me. Desireable enough, but not possible, short of armed rebellion.
And, since I've been poor, in the course of being self-employed, I don't feel your blanket condemnation of the poor, and I tend to find it a bit amusing coming out of the mind of someone who speaks the language of a lower middle class southern male just a foothold above being poor himself.
I enjoy your perspective, and like I said, I've never felt that we actually diasagree.

My favorite quote:
"Then you have no fear anymore. You are completely free.”
Bush's favorite quote:
"America must not ignore the threat gathering against us. Facing clear evidence of peril, we cannot wait for the final proof, the smoking gun that could come in the form of a mushroom cloud."
Any Questions? :)

The politicians are great at using fear to increase their power. Vote for me or terrorist will kill you. Vote for me or you will lose your social security. Vote for me or gay will marry and God will get pissed. Vote for me or children will starve.

You can't hate the word rhetoric because you live by its ideals.
I will say this though - considering yourself poor is a direct insult to yourself as poor is a state of mind, a victim mentality driven by self imposed suffering. Poor people are liberals because they see the government as an easy way to help end the suffering they have ultimately brought on themselves.
I'm not wealthy. In fact, I'm broke. I'm certainly not poor though. Poor is a state of mind; broke is temporary.
I feel you are stuck in an endless loop of pity, blame, and a lack of personal accountability, thus enabling your liberalism.
