Get government out of this and we will find out. As long as corrupt politicians who are running the show, we will stay addicted to foreign oil. End all fo this nonsense regulation and let the free market determine it.

the free market can not do this

ethanol needs a little help

have you ever seen those white and orange poles sticking out of the ground

they are about 3 feet high and you sometimes see them along major roads and highways

that is a marker for a pipeline
a pipeline to run through every state in the USA and companies like Exxon
ship crude oil, Gas and Nat Gas thru it

this is one of the reasons gas is so cheap in the USA
oil offloaded from a barge in California can be shipped up to Nebraska for almost nothing

AND when Exxon stick in 20 thousand barrels in New York
they can pull out 10 thousand barrels in Texas and 10 thousand barrels in Washington at the same time
even though that gas or oil takes over a week to travel there

that's why you never see Gas companies say their gas is better then so and so cause its all the same shit

ethanol cant travel through this great government subsidized pipeline. so its has a lot of shipping costs attached to it

it has to be shipped by train in tanker cars
which cant move 20 thousand barrels at a time

and think about this hundreds of billions of TAX dollars have been spent on the oil and gas infrastructure

how can a few small ethanol companies compete with that

I think ethanol could be one of the greatest things for this country since the refrigerator

remember when you fill up with gas part of your money gets put in the pocket of the Saudi royal family

when you fill up with Ethanol part of your money goes to americian farmers

Yep, nothing like big government politicians in bed with oil companies an automakers to make this happen. If it can't happen in the free market, it isn't the answer, simple as that.

Part of our problem is thinking we need government to solve all of our problems. Few problems really get solved in this line of thinking.

but how can ethanol ever survive in or by the free market alone

when the product it competes against has huge government subsidies

I feel that at the very least ethanol deserves a level playing field

Perfect example of what I am talking about right here.

Let's get government out of the picture. Otherwise you can guarantee we will stay dependent on foreign oil.

7 billion dollars in yearly subsidies for a fuel with a 1.24:1 energy payoff. Its all about the lobby, ethanol is not the answer
