It looks as if Mark Madden's high ratings trump everything, even the dignity of ESPN, ABC and Disney.

Madden, whose talk show is heard weekdays on 1250 ESPN from 3 to 7 p.m., has a long history of mean-spirited attacks on well-known and usually popular public figures. He outdid himself Wednesday when he went after Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, who earlier this week was diagnosed with brain cancer.

Taking into account two national tragedies of historical and monumental proportions -- the assassinations of two of Kennedy's brothers, President John F. Kennedy in 1963 and Sen. Robert F. Kennedy in 1968 -- Madden said the following early on his Wednesday show:

"I'm very disappointed to hear that Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts is near death because of a brain tumor. I always hoped Senator Kennedy would live long enough to be assassinated.

"I wonder if he got a card from the Kopechnes."

Rush Limbaugh succumbs to a 4 hour hard on due to abusing Puerto Rican Viagra without a prescription

Comedian Rush Limbaugh was found hanging by his penis in an oxycontin stupor when he evidently closed the bathroom door on his erect penis..The latest edition of "National Geographic" magazine was found on the bathroom floor at the foot of the commode..He will be fondly remembered for his dispicable mocking of Micheal J Fox's Parkinsons Disease

In this particular case, I have no feelings for this individual. Drunk at the wheel, this son-of-a-bitch killed a young woman, then fled the scene. His family, and their money, covered up the whole incident - and the prick went on to be a lifelong Senator.

A Liberal posterchild.

Hopefully, the Kopechne family has some final closure.

While I don't celebrate his death, I certainly do not celebrate his life now that he's dead.

Anyone from a wealthy family who can get away with leaving someone to die as cowardly as he did and continue on to be a prominent senator simply because of his last name isn't going to get any kudos from me.

If the justice system in this country was as "just" as it claims to be..there wouldnt be a jail large enough to hold all the politicians, celebrities and wealthy people

There is a kid from a well to do family over here, that intentionally ran his friend over, and killed him with a boat while intoxicated, over a girl..He got 3 years, and he got on work release almost immediately following incarceration..The punishment doesnt always fit the crime..Depends who you are

WASHINGTON – In a chilling forecast, the White House is predicting a 10-year federal deficit of $9 trillion — more than the sum of all previous deficits since America's founding. And it says by the next decade's end the national debt will equal three-quarters of the entire U.S. economy.

a) work?
b) ever be paid off or reduced?
c) in the event it does work even marginally, will it be effective or the best option? Will it work? Not sure. How well it will work in transforming the economy and bring us out of serious economic problems is difficult to gage as we really don't even know how much will be implemented. Frankly I think a fair bit of what they want to implement could be good but the end result of various compromises and cave-ins to all sorts of demands could render them relatively ineffective.

as to b) we will never pay of the debt, all you need to do is reduce it in terms of GDP growth.

as to c) the best option? hard to tell. We had three sets of tax cuts during a time of government expansion and a huge increase of borrowing from places like China to pay for it and that didn't work. I don't think there really is a best option that anyone will buy. Cutting of varioius programs, yes. Increased revenues in certain areas, yes.

Yes that is a prediction. What do you expect when the economy crumbled in 2008 and Bush left Obama with a major recession and a large deficit and two costly wars?
I expect NOT more of the same !

We wind down in Iraq, and ramp up in Afganistan.

Do you know the history of foreign occupiers in Afganistan?
The country is littered with their bones.

Obama came in, said the "Omnibus spending bill was last years business"
and allowed the fed. gov't to INCREASE by 8% this fiscal year.

Don't you think he should have said " No - go back an re-work this thingtake out the pork" and set an example for Congress?

He's doing the same thing with health care.
Instead of GUIDING his legislation thru a friendly Congress, he gives them vague policy goals,
leaving the Blue Dogs ( Dem from a Republican majority district) vulnerable for the mid terms coming up.

Yet he's all over TV - CONSTANTLY saying we have to have health care reform.
Now he's calling it "health insurance reform"

The man is not disciplined. Either that or his lack of any kind of Executive experience is gonna cost him big time.

Christ on a crutch. he's got a veto proof House, a 60 memebr Dem Senate.
Other presidents would be drooling at that opportunity.
But Obama is all cerebral, when he should be twisting arms, lining up votes, and threating to veto out of control spending bills.

He's gonna be a total failure if he doesn't start getting down and into the details, instead of relying on Congres to pass his agenda.

I understand GDP and the deficit, but to be more clear - I was asking if, assuming O'bama accomplishes what is being said will occur and triples the already high debt, will that just be a new watermark for future deficits?

Put it another way, will GDP ever catch up to spending or is this the new fiscal policy?

I expect NOT more of the same !

We wind down in Iraq, and ramp up in Afganistan.Well we are not winding down that quickly in Iraq. It remains to be seen just how many troops we can remove that quickly. Iraq is not by any means over.

Do you know the history of foreign occupiers in Afganistan?
The country is littered with their bones.Yes the prospects look gloomy. Not sure what Obama can salvage there. Controlling Al Qaeda in Pakistan regions perhaps, but how long will the trumped up government of Afghanistan lasts is another story.

Would you simply pull all NATO forces out of Afghanistan?

Obama came in, said the "Omnibus spending bill was last years business"
and allowed the fed. gov't to INCREASE by 8% this fiscal year.

Don't you think he should have said " No - go back an re-work this thingtake out the pork" and set an example for Congress?Maybe. But maybe he doesn't think that is the battle to be fought right now. If he starts fighting about Fiscal 2009 then planning for Fiscal 2010 might be completely lost in the fight.

Now he's calling it "health insurance reform"Reforming health care/insurance/whatever is a major task. Agreed the whitehouse needs more focus and they need to collect the votes they can get and then tell the rest to go screw themselves. Apparently nobody really wants to play bi-partisan at this point.

The man is not disciplined. Either that or his lack of any kind of Executive experience is gonna cost him big time.

Christ on a crutch. he's got a veto proof House, a 60 memebr Dem Senate.
Other presidents would be drooling at that opportunity.
But Obama is all cerebral, when he should be twisting arms, lining up votes, and threating to veto out of control spending bills.Yet if he was twisting arms, who wants to bet that you'd hear mass criticism of how he isn't working with both sides of the isle and is being even more of a dictator than he is being accused of being now? However you have a point.

He's gonna be a total failure if he doesn't start getting down and into the details, instead of relying on Congres to pass his agenda.I don't disagree with you there, he needs to be more proactive, start with a solid core policy, and then scrap from there.

Put it another way, will GDP ever catch up to spending or is this the new fiscal policy?I think it will have to catch up, one way or another. You will have to have belt tightening in some big areas, tax increases in others. Either that or eventually you will have an inflationary mess.

While I don't celebrate his death, I certainly do not celebrate his life now that he's dead.

Anyone from a wealthy family who can get away with leaving someone to die as cowardly as he did and continue on to be a prominent senator simply because of his last name isn't going to get any kudos from me.

The Republican party has been the fairly stronger party up until the last couple of years when GW fucking trashed it. Of course they're going to be bitter. They're doing now what GW has done for years - jamming their agendas down their opposition's throats.

Trust me, now that the pendulum has swung the other way, same shit will happen with the Republicans.

The Taliban are despicable, but they are home grown in Afg.
They have similar beliefs to al_Queada, but I don't see the Taliban as an international threat - EXCEPT to Pakistan.
So bolster Pakistan, contain the Taliban, and as much as i hate them, use the Predator drones for Al-queada.
That's all I can think of to do the best we can, without repeating the clusterfuck in Iraq.

The stimulus bill was supposedly targeted to grow jobs, the pork just grows gov't.
Going after the pork in the beginning would have shown Congress that Obama WILL veto wasteful spending.
Now it simply looks like the Dems' "tax and spend" will be the norm.

Then April 20th.... THREE MONTHS

Then May 20th... FOUR MONTHS

Then June 20th... FIVE MONTHS

Then July 20th... SIX MONTHS

To break it down even further:

219 days have passed since the inauguration including today. 219 divided by 9 is roughly 24.

But there are four mods now, so I hope someone else will jump in.

I sure haven't. The Chief means well, but it's clear he has some 'challenges' while observing his surroundings. The ole Injun warrior still thinks the GOP is his ticket to dignity - but as anyone able to tie their own shoes already knows, not even close.

Don't take the Chief's ramblings too seriously......but do keep in mind he does occasionally harvest some 'gems of wisdom' from that NewsCorp compost heap he calls a brain.

How appropriate for a hypocrit born into great wealth who pretended to care for the poor and the needy, he knew absolutely nothing about.

Bill Clinton: Expansion of EITC, Americorps, Welfare Reform: The number of kids being raised in single-parent homes dropped 8% from 1995-2000, and job placement programs as a part of welfare, "Fathers Work Families Win" initiative, Homelessness programs

Although Bill Clinton was a coward who dodged the draft by attending college in GRB, John Kerry let slip several insults directly aimed at the military during his run for Prez. His contempt for anything military was palpable. Even threw his suspiciously obtained medals overboard. Talk about a douche kit.

John Kerry's face always reminded me of Huckleberry Hound...

Ole Joe Kennedy was a bootlegger and womanizer...if any admiration was to be had, it would have been for Rose. Just look what she had to put up with from her husband! She was a tower of strength, imo, but a Kennedy only by marriage.

Chief, you really need to stop insulting people with your continuous gay-bashing.

I'm not in a a good mood today. I just bought a carton of cigarettes, and from the very first one they're stale. Now I have to smoke burnt cardboard for a week. I just gave Surfrider a time out, so cool your jets a bit - okay?

Say Smurf, how much did you pay for that carton, if I may ask. I saw a sign at a gas station last week that said a carton of Marlboro was $47.97! I couldn't believe it!

$30 for Doral Light 100s (the cheaper alternative to the brand I've smoked for 30 years) - from the discount place that supplies all the Quick Marts for three towns around - so they should have been fresh.

I think Merit Light 100s (my brand) are like $80 or more in Massachusetts. They were $9.48 a pack in Massachusetts back in January - before two price hikes since then.

So in comparison, I guess under $50 a carton is a bargain! Wow.

I think my Merits are around $50, but I buy them by the pack off and on for around $6. Trying to economize as much as I can nowadays with the Dorals. But stale cigarettes really suck - especially being stuck with a whole carton of them.

How long will they last you?

About 7 days or so. I smoke a little over a pack a day.

But afte this, I have to go back to buying them by the pack. I can't trust any one place to not have stale cigarettes now. I went through that last week. Bought em at different places to find the one place where they weren't stale. When I got paid I figured the discount supplier was a safe place to buy a carton. But I was wrong.

I don't smoke, but cigarette were fucking $50 a carton back then. I couldn't believe it, they were probably $15 a carton in the states back then, maybe less.
