I was looking over the posts today and thought it was pretty sad that during the Memorial Day weekend no one on this board posted one thank you to a vet. Could I be wrong? Sure would not be the 1st time, and I honestly hope I am. But with the dates of last posts and thread topics, nothing shows up. I jumped in 4 pages deep in both sections and found nothing. Seems most posting just stopped that weekend. And if there were postings I would think they would be pretty easy to find here. For those of you who don't know. Currently there are only 3.3% of this nations citizens serving in any military force, CONUS or OCONUS. In the entire history of the USA only 5% of the total population has served any time in a military force. This country, regardless of what is said here, is still the best country, our system maybe screwed but it's still better then what most countries have. Heck the Dutch have banned the wearing of Burqa's with the excuse that when they’re speaking with a Muslim female, they want to be able to see her face. Hell, if you are going to go so far to ban something that is a major staple in someone’s religion at least be honest about it. Tell the world you are doing it cause you don’t want that religions followers in your country. It’s a shame that some countries would be as transparent as to their real feelings towards that religion. Try doing something like that here and see what happens. Regardless of my beliefs and my military back round I still do not hold any racism towards any "Real" Muslim. I would never insist that a female of any religion remove anything from her person so I can feel comfortable in my dealings with her. That would be as selfish an act as anything I can think of. It's one of the main reasons this country was founded, "Freedom of Religion". Shit you can worship the Devil here and it's legal. I find it sad that with so many out spoken posters here, not one person thanked a Vet. Of all places you think you would find such a post, a political message board, nope, not here. Remember something, if you live in this country, everything you have right now, as small as you think it may be was in some way provided to you by the blood of your fellow citizens, who for the most part joined the services of their own free will to make a change for the better in their lives, their families lives, your life and this country. When you walk outside in your town today, think of something, it's very possible you are standing on a spot that someone was shot wounded and died fighting for the freedoms they felt at the time were so badly needed in this country.
