I swear I would rather starve than call people at home and try to get them to buy some crap. It is tasteless and they are pests. You can see from this photo of a telemarketing office, they are ashamed, and they hide their face. They should be ashamed especially for the older and disabled people they bother.

lol, we instituted telemarketing for the mortgage company I own. and we are helping seniors that are living almost on nothing get reverse mortgages and actually get income from their houses. It's amazing how greatful people are when you can eliminate a mortgage payment that takes up 70% of their income and even get them income on a monthly basis. I feel like we are doing people a service by calling them at home...

You own the phone and pay for the service, but you do not own
telecommunication lines. The law allows them to make calls with some
restrictions.
I did call work for a short time, it was the only work I could get at the time.
I quit because I got tired of people being pissed off,
then I went to work in the Florida elections for 2004 :lmao2:

Most of the seniors I know, have satisfied their mortgages a long time ago.
Reverse mortgages can work well for some, but it is predatory for others.

My father has sleepless nights, and often sleeps until noon. Almost daily one of these commission paid telemarketeers wakes him up. If we wanted to get a mortgage we would call the our bank. What kind of idiot would buy a mortgage from a stranger on the phone? Isn't this the kind of crap Bush pulled that got us into the housing crisis?

No, but you are a shameless shill for Obama.
First of all, I am not shameless, I am proud to be part of the Democratic Party movement to put capitalists in their place, promote free enterprise for small business, restructure American corporations, and bring health care to everyone. It is something I will proudly tell my grandchildren about.
Since I was not exactly sure what a "shill" is I looked it up.
I thought those records were sealed! I was only 17, we were out of beer, and it was my turn to buy. My fake ID was really bad, so I paid a guy to buy beer for me. After the purchase, I only had 50 cents left, so I could not pay the entire dollar I had promised. I swore I would pay him the next time I saw him, but I never did. I have lived with this guilt all my life, thank you bring it out in the open. I feel much better.

nothing, they never have to pay the mortgage again. The government insures the mortgages from the start. So let's say someone lives longer than expected. They will still recieve the income they were promised from day 1 and when they pass the family will never owe more than what the house sells for beacuse the government makes up the difference. So let's say someone does own their house free and clear, but they only make $1300 a month between the two of them. I've met quite a few people in that situation. That's nothing, all they can do is live. They can't go anywhere or do anything. Their energy bill's cover at least 1/3 of that, add in taxes, home insurance, ect... half their income is gone. They still have to eat, buy clothes, repairs to the property...it all adds up quick. What if I could double that income for them. Now they get to live out their golden years wth some dignity. They have extra money to do things for the grandkids and have some fun with life.
What happens when one of them dies, and their income drops by 1/2 or more possibly? Sure they own the house free and clear, but will they still be able to afford even the property taxes? Chances are they are loosing that house on $650/month.
The reverse isn't always someone's best option. But for a lot of people these days it's a great one.

lol, seriously dude...no paid telemarketer wakes him up. Don't feed me bull shit, all he has to do is put himself on the DNC list and then can sue that telemarketer for 5 grand every time he calls.
You own a business? You ever tried to get your services out to the public? I have a better question, what kind of idiot works for someone else for the rest of their lives? Only to retire and have nothing. Oh wait, lots of people fell into that trap. Most people have never even heard of a reverse mortgage, in fact. It's more than likely your local bank doesn't even do it. So we help them learn about a program they otherwise would not know about. So maybe you don't like telemarketers, and a lot of people don't. But they facilitate helping a lot of people...
The crap that Bush pulled was deregulating the market. The loan programs were risky, but it wouldn't have happened if everyone thought these mortgage backed securities couldn't loose because they were insured by companies like AIG. Banks woulnd't have lended that kind of funny money if the market hadn't introduced the insurance products it did. Banks figured even if they borrower defaulted they would just get paid from the insurance. No risk on their part, so they did whatever they wanted...

Pabst Brewing Company is an American company founded in 1844 by Jacob Best. Best known for Pabst Blue Ribbon beer, it is historically associated with Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where it was founded, although its corporate headquarters are now in Woodridge, Illinois. The Pabst brands make up 2.8% of the American beer market.
In 1999, the Pabst Brewing Company began transferring its production to Miller Brewing Company on a contractual basis. In 2001, it closed its last brewery in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The announced InBev purchase of Anheuser-Busch in July 2008 prompted Pabst to claim to be the largest American-owned brewer. In fact, it is a "virtual brewer," a marketing company whose 85 brands are brewed by either Miller Brewing Company or Lion.
Pabst is owned by a not-for-profit trust based in California, S&P Company.

At first I thought this was a silly thread, but if it informs
everyone about the Do Not Call List and motivates them
to take a few moments to register (https://www.donotcall.gov/), then it will serve a
useful purpose.
It motivated me to register again. Under the old program,

have to register once, and it's permanent (unless you

btw, the older people I bother, some of them make less than a thousand dollars a month and have 60% of their income taken up by a mortgage. We help them able to live with some dignity for their elder years. If you don't like the way I do that, too bad...

when you answer the phone, and there is a 2 or 3 second delay before a voice asks "Hi! Is this__?"
You KNOW it's a telemarketer using a predictive dialer.
The computer is dialing multiple numbers, and when the phone is picked up, the telemarketer, will be switched into your call.
But there is a delay of a couple seconds.
Everybody that calls me, answers as soon as I say hello.
If i hear dead air, i just hang up.

We bought a new house last year and now just use cell phones and we haven't had one marketing call since.
Same goes for me. Nary a marketing call arrives on my cell....:D
