An 'Independent' voter has been redefined as that segment of the electorate who, having seen their Republican and Libertarian base principles reduced to piles of smoldering rubble, now don their 'Independent' hats and carry on.

"Hey, I DID NOT vote for Bush" is being chanted in honky tonks and rural chapels across the fruited plain.

And you don't see it discussed at all in the MSM, but it's clear to me when the RNC chose that dark-skinned fella from Maryland to head-up the clan, the rednecks and crackers scrambled like cockroaches when the Chief's trailer light is switched on. Gone!

No wonder Republican party self-identification numbers went through the floor......it's like admitting you're on the sex offender list.

Bill - the irony is, most Republicans are already on the sex offender list from what I've gathered. They should be used to it by now, not sure what changed.
