See here is the thing...my name on here is life long dem but I really am not a dem anymore and dont get me started on republicans. The way I see it the current two party system is severely broken, todays conservatives want to take this country backwards at least 50 years in terms of politics and the way we run this country which is the wrong direction to go, we need to move forward and progress instead of being so intent on returning things back to the yester years. Democrats are just as bad...see they want progress but the WRONG kind of progress...they seem to be wanting to create an almost fascist one party rule, like a police state of sorts...I say this because of things like the healthcare reforms they are trying to create...what they want is harmful not helpful. Both partys are extremely corrupt and are about money not the people they are elected to serve.
What we need is a complete dismantle of the current system and we need to start over from scratch. Sadly though I dont see that happening in my lifetime but hopefully in my God Daughters lifetime and my future childrens lifetime.

There's very little conservative in the Republican party and very little liberal left in the Democratic party. That's the jumping off point for the argument of the two party system.
Essentially they are the same, there's really very few differences other than the rhetoric they use to get elected.
The biggest issue with the two party system is that both parties spend most of their efforts doing what's best for The Party and not the American people. There is basically no option if a politician has a middle of the road belief.
The reason why it's so popular in so many cultures is that it's easy for people to not think about issues and just follow an either or mind set.
